Hey guys. I received this laptop yesterday and it works great except for the blue screen of deaths that happen pretty often.

That is the error I get. I don't know what is causing that error however. I downloaded all the latest Windows 8.1 drivers straight from Sager's official website here Software Upgrade.
The crash seems to occur at random times. Sometimes I'm just surfing the web, sometimes it's in the middle when I'm installing something, and so I can't really pinpoint what is causing it.
I downloaded WhoCrashed in hopes it would mention something specific so I could know what to do but here are the logs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I love the laptop itself but these blue screens are killing me!

Just to be sure test the ram using memtest if any errors the ram is faulty.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool -
To test ram I personally don't recommend men test as it showed ram ok in the past for me when I had faulty sticks so now I do a video edit render and max out the ram the software can use its more of an real life test for me any way

Hey guys, the reseller sales team told me to reformat and do a clean install of Windows only installing drivers from the CD they provided in packaging. So I just got around to finish doing that but just a few minutes ago I see the same "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" blue screen message.
-
Try asking them if there is a new version of BIOS. Sounds like this is the one thing you haven't updated.

Did you order the OS with the computer or using your own copy. It does look like a Windows issue. Do you happen to have another copy of Windows to try?

how much ram did you get? was it 2 sticks or 4 you ordered.(not sure how much your model can have).
reason i ask is sometimes the ram can work lose in transit and its normally the 2 sticks in the base and not the 2 under the keyboard.
just a guess as i have no idea how ram works and if it was a lose stick then would it of let you load the operating system and the drivers in the first place if one was lose from the start. -

Update, just got an email from LPCDigital the reseller. They are sending me a shipping slip so I can send the laptop back to them.

Guys if I can suggest ; STAY AWAY FROM Windows 8.1 it is BIG MISTAKE from Microsoft !!!! It can literally destroy your PC !!
It is actually designed only for desktop PC bcos there are generic HW which doesn't need specially corrected drivers ...
I had this problem on my ultrabook below pic
I just clicked update to 8.1 in win store and this happened
Or even I had 8 and it updated updated automatically and after restart it said update failure reverting ...
If I can suggest STAY AWAY from 8.1 and in 8 carefully update updates... !
-
I've had and been using win 8.1 for quite a while without any issues. I think you probably had something screwy happen to your machine.
-
I know what am doing. I had my ultrabook with 8 quite some time without problems, then i decided to update to that 8.1 bcos it was maddening with pop-up and then it f***ed-up my HD4400 and HD4000 drivers with exclamation mark in device manager.
I resolved it by installing old driver but then i encountered another problem that DirectDraw acceleration was disabled there was no way to enable and same with AGP texture was disabled. In win 8 it is all nicely enabled !
Then win 8.1 started to crash into TYPICAL blue screen of death .. and it happened 5 times and my RAM gone ..
I was frightened, WHT happened !
Then I have purchased EXPENSIVE samsung 8GB ram £85 and it was keeping crashing into blue screen and I said ENOUGH !! And I deleted that CRAP 8.1 and freshly installed 8 and it WORKS NORMALLY as am writing now !!! -
Yeah... that's probably your particular laptop having bad Windows 8.1 support. I have a Plextor M5M 128GB SSD for my OS drive, I have two 780Ms, I have i7-4800MQ, I have never seen a windows 8.1 issue at all. Your hardware is not all that different from mine.
Except your laptop is an Acer, and it is possible you need a BIOS update to use Windows 8.1. Or they simply never meant for your machine to use 8.1 at all. It's not a common occurrence as far as I have seen. Sorry for your problems, but that doesn't mean Windows 8.1 will do the same for everyone. -
Well you cant go with HW only..
As you said about bios so main thing is motherboard..
I have long time updated bios but bios has nothing to do with drivers in OS..
It is ok with win 8 so i just said 8.1 is rubbish..
People even say it is worse than vista.. -
uhh board BIOS can have lots to do with the OS. It's rare, but if you have a super locked-down BIOS it'll conflict with drivers in a new OS (as drivers tell an OS how to USE a piece of hardware... aka the motherboard and the things attached to it) and you'd need to update it.
-
Oh yea, bios directly effects the OS and all aspects of the system.

Hi,
I also have a 7358 experiencing the exact same problem with windows 8.1. Did the supplier tell you what was wrong with it?
