So I own a NP7378/Clevo W370SS. The machine is a beast for its price (run most modern games at ultra settings, full-HD for 30fps or high settings at 60fps).
I recently bought a laptop bed tray to use my Sager on bed (due to my serious back problem). The tray has 2 fans + included (imagine a cooling pad with 4 legs!!).
I want to setup the fans so that they maximize my laptop cooling ability. So first thing came to mind is to check out if my laptop fans blow air or suck air.
My laptop has 2 fans at the bottom. I can feel air being blown out from one fan but the rest I can feel nothing. So I guess my laptop fans are currently in 1 of 2 situations:
- 1 fan blows out hot air, 1 fan sucks cool air in to help with air circulation.
OR
- 2 fan blows out hot air but 1 of them is dead (d'oh).
I wonder if anyone currently owning or has experience with this model help me figure out which of the 2 situations above is most likely to be my case?
Thanks in advance.

LOL that thread title sounds like ure out to totally bash the fan / exhaust system of this machine

Fans draw air in from underneath (center of fan) and blows out the vent.
W370SS as far as I know has one fan... see the image from notebookcheck: Review Clevo W370SS (Nexoc G728II) Barebones Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

For the record they suck it in and blow it out. This may help with setting the correct form of rotation for the external cooler.
Good luck. -
Thanks for the insight guys.
And sorry I'm an idiot. The bottom has 2 vents so I thought it had two fans. And the fan is indeed sucking air from the bottom (I thought it was blowing air out because my finger felt cooler near the vent underneath the fan, but when I tested it with a strand of hair the hair quickly got sucked in).
So if I set up the two fans of the tray so that they blow air into the machine it should help with the cooling right? -
In all honesty, laptop coolers are way overrated IMHO. It really only helps if it can get that extra airflow over the heatpipes and fins directly, which usually means modifying the bottom panel or removing it altogether. Pumping air into the fan intake won't help a whole lot unless it's much colder air being forced in (like setting it on a block of dry ice... haha... don't try this). Laptop cooling systems benefit most with a good repaste and usually propping up the back of the laptop slightly, not to mention keeping the vents, fans, and heatsink fins clean.

Some machines with really poor airflow benefit, but the sager machines don't have this issue.
