Can't find much about the FPS and such with this laptop, so... What is your fps on games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 and COD

Also for gaming is the upgrade from a i7-2630QM to a i7-2720QM going to significantly increase performance or what?

And is the upgrade from the intel 6230 wifi card to the 6300 wifi card going to significantly affect the download speeds/upload speeds

AANNND FINALLY, is the 40 dollar IC diamond upgrade worth it or should I self paste it? and any recommendations for thermal paste if I do self paste?

    Thanks for answering my questions.

    1. See here for benchmarks on that card

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

    2. Not for gaming, no. You'll be limited by the GPU long before you ever hit the limit on the CPU. If you do video encoding, vmware, or other CPU intensive tasks, then it may be worth it.

    3. Not from the internet unless you have 1) a router that supports 450Mbps and 2) wicked fast internet. However, if you have 1) and not 2) you will notice a speed increase sharing over the local connection between computers. Primarily though, you may see a slight improvement in connection quality with the 6300 compared to the 6230 as it has an extra antenna in it.

    4. If you can do it yourself, you may opt to do that. You can check the temps when you get the machine and add your own paste if you feel you need the ~5C drop. Most people here like IC Diamond or Arctic Silver V among others

    Hope this helps

    EDIT: MALIBAL ninjad me lol.

Hi, I think I can answer a few of your questions.

    1. here are some benchmarks for the GTX 560M NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

2.going from the 2630 to the 2720, you won't really see to big of a performance increase if any in games. the 2630 is already a beast, I just ordered a NP8150 which is basically the same laptop and went with the 2630 and spent the money I saved on a SSD. Hope I helped :)

i guess you could say this my area of expertise. on bfbc2 i play with all settings maxed 8x AF and 8x CSAA and i get 60-70fps, more when im in the helicopter for some reason. i can set the AA and AF higher, but i can't tell the difference, well i can but only if i scope in on an angled wall. also if your interested in the bf3 alpha on high 1920x1080p i get 40 fps, but there was only one adjustable setting.

edit: sorry i have the equivalent of a sager 8150, and in the title you said 8130/p150hm so im assuming that you mean the one with the 560m.

Pointing out he has a 485m and not a 560m. Just in case you don't browse his signature :)

Yea I saw that, haha keep your hopes low and be suprised :p

I'm hoping since they are making the Bad Company series more console related and the Battlefield Series more computer related I hope they optimize the game a little bit more since it was only Alpha

And are you running dx11 or what?

i think the alpha was dx11 but it didn't have tesselation. the final version will have tesselation. bf3 will be more of a cpu intensive game than bc2, as the required specs are a 2.00ghz quad core processor, and it took about 1.5gb or RAM alone. bf3 is more about the animations and features of the game than the actual graphics though.

oh and for bf3 yes im running dx11, i changed the settings.ini to set it for dx11 and i also set the render ahead limit to 0 to maximize the framerates.

$40 can buy you a lot of paste. :D Also here is a test from X-Bit Labs about thermal paste: Thermal Interfaces Roundup: Retail Products - X-bit labs. I would read the whole review since it has a lot of info about the what's in the paste, curing time, etc.

aduy, you said that BF3 is more cpu intensive but considering its a sandy i7 chances are you probably won't feel it, my biggest thing is just being able to play BF3 solidly even on med/low settings. Whats your take on it using a 2630 and a gtx 560
