    Hi guys,

I bought my sager last year 2011 May right when the 2nd gen i7 processors were released.

    Sager NP8130:
    Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M GPU with 1.5GB GDDR5 Video Memory

I haven't observed my laptop previously, but recently I have noticed that the temperatures of my CPU go up to 95C when I'm just streaming one video and had 1 window of firefox open with around 7 tabs open. Even right now when I'm typing this post, my CPU temp is 80C. I believe this is abnormally high....people have posted that their CPUs only go to 90s range when gaming....and I'm just surfing the net right now.

And yes the fan is always really loud....it does that randomly and last night when I was trying to watch something the fan turned up so high that I couldn't hear the video sound....so I checked the CPU temp and it turned out that my CPU was at 95C....I think I've had this problem for a long time now just that I never checked the temperature since I always have the experience of surfing the net or streaming some videos, then the fan suddenly turns up to really high speed...

Also, I have my laptop elevated using a laptop stand, which as a hole+fan at the back, so I don't think it's the problem of blocking the vents, etc.

Does anyone have any idea why my CPU is overheating to such high temperatures when I'm not even playing games? Also I remember checking the CPU usage % and it was at around 30-40%...yet it was at 95C so no idea why.

Please help me figure out what's wrong!

There will always be something blocking the vents. Over time, this usually happens to be dust, which needs due cleaning from time to time. Maintenance is equally important! So if you haven't done that already, I suggest you open up the laptop from the bottom, and even pull the keyboard to give it a thorough cleaning..

How do I "pull the keyboard" or open up the laptop (i don't want to break something by accident)? IS there a guide on how to do it?
    Thanks

You'll find (usually) 4-5 noticeable hinges at the edges of the keyboard. These are meant to be delicately popped with a screw driver. Once unhinged, it can be lifted exposing the underside of the keyboard. Note that there will be a cable underneath connecting the chassis with the keyboard, that one needs to be careful around. You can then clean your laptop from the top in this manner.

As far as the backplate is concerned, remove the screws and you're good to go!

Get a canister of compressed air and spray through ur air vents :) do it in the bathroom so its easier to clean up afterwards :)

Or even a lungful of air, a brush and some patience might suffice... ;)
