Hello all, I have a Sager NP8130 that I bought in March. Today, all of a sudden, it started producing a random single short beep from the system. Even with headphones in it comes from the PC as if it had an internal speaker (it may).
Its coming from the right side around the optical drive. There's no disc in the drive and I never felt it spin up. I know the harddrive is in the front-center but it shouldn't be making random beeping noises either.
CPU temps as well as GPU and hdd are all quite low, it doesnt happen under load and it happens at random anywhere from 10 minutes apart to 2 hours or longer.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this or if they knew what it may be?

I wanted to add that I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the battery is fully charged as well and plugged in.
I've checked the BIOS codes but there aren't any for a single short, high pitched beep. -

The high pitched beep could be your harddrive experiencing problems. What is the state of S.M.A.R.T. for your harddrive? Many mechanical HDD issues will emit what sounds like beeps when they are failing.
If you mute the speakers, does it still beep? I think the system does have an internal speaker as it beeps on bootup. -
I am about to head home and will check the state.
I can hear it when I mute the speakers or have headphones in it still emits from the pc. Also, thank you for your reply! -

Quick update, running virus scan (though unlikely since this is my workhorse programming box), before that just heard it happen twice within 1 minute, the fastest it has happened. It doesn't sound like the CD drive, but I certainly don't know.
I have emailed XoticPC (who I bought it from) but have had no response since 11:30 last night. I figured at least 24 hours though. -

Mine is also a seagate, did you get the firmware from seagate, xotic (or other 3rd party), clevo, or sager?

YouTube - MacBook pro 7200rpm click + beep + freeze‏ though this is a macbook, it is running the same drive and its the same noise at the end! If that firmware fixed it for you I will absolutely be grateful to you if you still have a link to it!

sorry to bump an old thread, but my np8130 does the exact same thing as that macbook pro in that video. It makes the same beep and stutters for a second like in that video. Was this ever resolved? I have the same hard drive as the OP
-
I think I have the same drive as well. I noticed that it makes a beep noise, but it is only when I pick up the laptop I believe. I haven't had it long though so I will listen for it more

Anyone know what firmware they have on their hhd? Mine is 0002SDM1 and I am not having any beeping or clicking issues. Also where do you download the lastest firmware for clevo's ST9500420AS?
