My 7 months old NP8130 idles at 50-55C while if I run a slightly processor intensive task like Virtual Machine (using Virtualbox) it goes up to 65-70C (max).

Are these temps high or am I just being paranoid? I'm using Realtemp to measure the core temperature, the laptop is kept on an elevated stand (CM U2).

    Hi Ronin420,
Temp questions are pretty common. The first thing suggested to do is open up the bottom panel and clean out the vents and fans from any dust that has built up. A can of compressed air is best to use, just blow out any dust. Over 7 months you probably have a bit. Idle temps can vary depending on your environment and 50-55C isnt anything to worry about. The important thing is how high your temps get underload. Run a stress test program like prime95 and if you max out a 80-90C its nothing to be worried about.

The temperatures you've posted are normal. 65-70c is about the average for the CPU's in these models. You can follow Hutsady's advice to clean it out if you're worried or if they go up at all though.
