Is the fan noise on the NP8130 as loud as a hairdryer on crack like the AW M14x when gaming or benchmarking?

How loud are the fans if just web browsing or playing music/videos?

    Thanks

You can hear the fans when you're gaming. But just web-browsing and desktop usage they're nearly silent.

My GTX 560m and i7 2630qm both idle in the upper 30's / low 40's and are pretty much silent at those temperatures.

It's quieter than I expected at least, I was willing to tolerate a lot more considering the performance of the laptop.

Doesn't bother me either. It's nowhere near what a hair dryer sounds like. But, I also play with in-ear canal phones plugged into an X-Fi Pro USB sound card. Like the above poster said, it's nearly silent when just browsing.

I don't notice the fan at all when gaming or watching movies but yes it is on. It is not a hairdryer. If you want to hear hairdryer mode, you press Fn +1 and it puts the fans on maximum RPM. It never does that in games.

There shouldn't be any if you're using an external mouse. All vents are output to the rear of the machine. (most inputs are on the bottom, though some airflow is through the keyboard). The top of the machine (keyboard/trackpad) doesn't get much warmer than room temperature either. This is assuming you keep the vents clear though :)

There's no heat at all. All the components are in the back. The only thing that might warm up slightly is the battery.
