I've got a Sager NP8150 with ATI 6970M. Recently I noticed that I've been getting poor performance in Skyrim and Rage. After a bit of investigation, I noticed that my GPU clocks are stuck at 150/100 (the default when on battery I think) instead of 680/900, even when the GPU is maxed out.

I've reinstalled Windows and upgraded to the latest drivers, but I can't seem to get the GPU speed to change when gaming. I'm using the latest Catalyst (11.12), and I've disabled Overdrive and Powerplay. My laptop battery settings are in High Performance.

And yes, my laptop is plugged in.

    Any ideas?

I was able to get around it by enabling Overdrive and changing the clocks to slightly different values (685/905).

Still, it's odd that it never increases the clocks from the idle settings unless I set them to non-default values. Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

Are your hotkey drivers installed? Did you check to make sure that they're set to high performance as well? (It should be a laptop icon on your taskbar). They interface directly with the hardware and supersede the Windows settings.
