If you don't care about future GPU upgrades, go for the 8130 and save a few hundred. (same cosmetically, except no rubberized finish like the 8150)

Sorry, let me be more specific, "if you want more options on future GPU upgrades, get the 8150, otherwise the 8130 is cheaper".

It's not really CPU upgrades that are in question, but it can't handle the 100W GPU's like GTX 485m or HD 6970m.

From what I understand, 8130 comes with lesser cooling capability and less wattage on the power supply, so it doesn't handle higher end GPU's (or rather, has a much harder time handling one).

There may be higher end GPU's in the future that requires less Wattage that can run in the 8130, but going with an 8150 seems the safer bet if you expect to upgrade the GPU at some point.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Heat and power. Although nothing else has been concrete whether the cooling system is different between the 8130 and 8150. Primarily the PSU. But not sure if you can just buy one of the 180W PSU's that the 8150 uses and plug it in the 8130 and it will work.

For the NP8150 i posted in the OP, it is basically for playing WOW and Future MMO's like RIFT etc.. plus having the option to upgrade later to the 485m is intriguing.

Even tho i mostly play MMOs on my laptops, i still prefer to have the option to play FPS and the such if wanted

MMO's in general (excluding the FF series) tends to have lower spec requirements, so that they can cater to a larger portion of the public to generate their revenue, so I feel you might be able to get away with the NP8130.

I think the 460M should be more than sufficient for most MMO's that will come out and suffice for the occasional FPS action as long as you don't play the bleeding edge games at the highest settings.

Of course, things can change and you may end up wanting a new graphics card too, so the 8150 is a great idea as well. It really boils down to what you're looking for. :)

Yah right now im running the old Alienware m15x (2008 model) with an 8700m GT... its dated now and cant even handle running WOW on high settings anymore (since cata) so i wanted something that i shouldnt have this issue with in a few years, figure with the 460m it will run WOW just fine on full settings, and worse case if they change something majorly in a year or two i could just buy a 485m and be all good.

The 460m will run wow on full settings just fine. I'm running on an 8700m as well (NP5792) and WoW runs just fine on *mostly* high settings, but i can see if someone wants all the bells and whistles it is insufficient; i'm running Bad Company 2 @ 1900x1200 as well on this, eye candy turned off. I just recently started overclocking because at this point if the card goes it's done it's time.

So that might be an option for you as well if you do get the 460m. Play it out, when it's time or close to time to upgrade overclock so you can get a relative 5-6 months more out of the card and thus saving cash.

I bet the main differences between NP8130 and NP8150 is the initial GPU options and Power Adapter wattage.

Buy NP8130 and get yourself a NP8150 power adapter for future GPU upgrade options.

That's hard to say. I think the finish on the outside of the chasis is different with 8150 having a rubbery finish to 8130 with a plastic.

It really could be that the 8150 just goes through an extra step to add the coating, but it could also mean that the chasis is actually completely different.

I don't think I have ever seen a confirmation on the internal differences though, so I dunno.

The finishing has nothing to do with the chassis structure.

You can have diamond glued on the outside case but the chassis structure stays the same.

Also it will be utterly idiotic to have 3 different chassis structure designs for 3 laptops in the 15.6 inches line. 3 different structure means 3 different motherboards and heatsinks.

Yeah mostly ill be playing WOW, RIFT and the new Star Wars MMO once it releases. Right now mind is set on the 8150, the only thing i have skeptical right now is if i order and get the 460m... then like 2 months later a new mid range graphics card comes out and takes its place in the 8150 or Sager releases a new line around my price range ($1500) with a better card. then i'd want to just jump off a cliff. Has there been any rumbling of a new rig coming out? I saw there was one that recently came out but the card is not as good as the 460m I believe it was a 540m or something
