I need more space so since i don't really use my optical drive at all im thinking of taking out the dvd burner and putting in an HDD. I've never done this before so i have no idea how to do it. Also i heard i need a caddy or something. Any tips/guides on how to install an HDD for this laptop? Also if there's any good deals on any HDD's please post them.

this is how you take the drive bay out (3 minutes) Puget Systems Traverse Pro M550i Component Replacement - YouTube
but someone else will have to advise on the caddy model number to get as me not got one. -
pretty straightforward actually
pretty much any standard 12.7mm caddy will fit. after popping off the back cover theres just one single screw to losen up before u can push out the optical drive. where are u located exactly? i got my caddy from newmode.us, but theyre also available on ebay for not a whole lotta bucks each
