Hey guys, I have the Sager 8170 with an Nvidia gtx 470m and I'm checking to see if any of the resident experts can help me with a video issue.
I play WoW a few nights a week and it's the most video intensive game I have installed on my computer so I'm not sure if it's related to wow or just any intensive game.
Originally I had the graphic settings on High and I would get around 60 fps. While raiding I normally get around 60 fps also, but sometimes it drops.
Mid fight I'll be at 60 fps and all of a sudden it will drop to 5 fps, then within a second down to 1 fps and a few seconds later I'll get 0 fps and my game stands still. This happens randomly on fights and it'll happen even without a lot of casting animation or spell effects that would generally lower fps.
It doesnt lock up my computer either, I can still hear everyone talking on vent and I can tab out to windows and force quit out of WoW.
I tried the latest Nvidia drivers, some slightly older drivers, and the original drivers that came with my driver cd. I have also tried playing in fullscreen and windowed mode and lowering graphics down to the minimal settings to no effect. It is also not an addon issue because I tried disabling all addons for wow and it still happens.
I've been running HWmonitor to see check temps and my CPU was around 58 deg Celsius and GPU was around 60 deg Celsius.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Marvin

Are you wired or wireless when this happens. As you know WoW is all online based so when you're raiding you have alot of data coming in and you could be having internet connection issues instead. Normally this would just cause Lag but it could be something more. Next time you raid try it with an actual cable connected and see if it does it. Dropping down from 60fps to 5 then 0 is definately odd.

I'm wired when it happens. I thought that might have been the issue, so I ran a direct cable to the router and it still does it.

I guess it's time to play a better game.
