Greetings,
Just got my Sager NP8265 and having a problem using my big external monitor. The freaking thing uses the onboard graphics for multiple monitors. No settings in catalyst for multidisplay support. Any suggestions on how to force HD 8970 use for external monitor?
Thanks

Switchable graphics do not work that way on the Clevos. The ports are routed directly to the Intel chip, as far as I'm aware.

The Intel is what puts the image forth to your screens, regardless of which GPU is doing the work, due to the "muxless" design that Sager uses. Someone on here can probably explain to you in depth how it works better than I. Also, it is normal for your ATI CCC to show in it's taskbar menu "Intel HD 4600", yet list all of the AMD 3d graphics settings.
The Intel graphics has more than enough horsepower to do multiple desktops, and the AMD will be used for graphics intensive programs. You can set this up by right clicking the desktop and selecting "configure switchable graphics."
You can't disable the Intel graphics adapter by the way. The 8790, when not being used, will go to a very low power state (or it might be totally off, I can't remember). An easy way to tell when the 8970 is being used, is if it's fan is on (left hand fan if you are looking at the laptop from the back).
