    Ok, so I bought this notebook primarily for gaming. My specs are as follows:

    Processor: i7 4700mq 2.4Ghz
    GPU: AMD 8970m 4GB
    Memory: 8gb 1600 DDR3 RAM
    Windows 8.1

    So, I have tested both Guild Wars 2 and Xcom - Enemy Within... I am getting atrocious FPS in both. My GW2 is running at the lowest possible settings and is only able to get 3 FPS- thats no typo, I'm only getting 3fps. Xcom with minimum settings is at the highest running at 15fps. Clearly something with my PC is very, very wrong. I figured it was AMD Enduro at work, but I have verified that the AMD GPU appears to be running (MSI Afterburner shows it running, its temp rising and clocks rising when in game). I am using the AMD drivers provided by Sager on their website.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to what on earth is causing such atrocious figures? Benchmarks online have showed that I should be expecting 40+ fps in Guild wars 2 on at the very least medium settings. What can I do to fix this?
    If more info is needed, please ask it and I will do my best to provide it.

    Ok, hate to bump my own post but I have currently found a solution, at least for the Guild Wars 2 issue... Running the game in compatibility mode for 'Windows 8' appears to fix the problem completely. I have no idea why/how this works, but it does work. If anyone would like to shed light on why this solution works, feel free.

    No technical reason I can provide, just that is what compatibility mode is made for. Glad you got it working!

    Are you sure that in windows power options you use the high performance setting? check in the power plan if all these settings are alright:

    pci express -> Link state power management : off
    ati graphics --> maximize performance
    switchable dynamic graphics -> optimise performance

    And ofcourse be plugged in, the battery does not provide enough power to feed both the cpu and 8970M alone. For the rest, latest driver updates and catalyst control center can also help(those on sager website are not the latest).
