Ok. So I will probably buy the sager NP8652-S from xoticpc (http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8652s-clevo-p650sg-p-8133.html). Just a few questions: Do I need the 980m and are there any problems with linux that I should know about?
980m first: I want to be able to play games such as GTA V, Just Cause 3 and generally GPU intensive games in the future (2-3 years) at 60 fps at a good quality. Is the 980m the right choice, is there something about cooling or battery usage I should know about?
Now it's linux's turn. I am planning on partitioning my SSD into windows and a few linux distros. Are there any linux compatibility issues that I should know about? I heard the fan doesn't work properly in linux and that there are some issues with drivers, but all the hardware is new and I would expect the newest linux kernel and some time to work with the drivers would fix it. Anything else? Thanks.

The 980M is a great card and really has delivered on expectations. Hard to say if it will last 2-3yrs as that will depend on games and how demanding they become. If its in your budget, there is no reason not to get it :)

We won't work with Linux so hopefully someone else that does can chime in.

Thanks. I had an idea BTW. You should offer to install Linux on the pc s you sell and charge like ten dollars. It would be free for you and people who don't want to spend 100$ on windows would be able to have a perfectly good os pre-installed on their computer. Just a suggestion

We have talked about it before, but since Sager or us do not support it, it would not be right to install it then tell people we do not support what we install.

Unlike most vendors, most clevo/sager re-sellers don't force you to get a windows install. While not as convenient as having a linux distro pre-installed, they don' penalize you for now wanting windows.

Most Clevo resellers won't offer any Linux distro due to said reasons, but there are some vendors that specialize in Linux-equipped Clevos that offer support on the OS if the system is purchased through them.

Thanks for your replies, just wanted to clarify that my problem isn't installing linux, it's that I heard there were some issues with it and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with those issues

I have the NP8652-S from xoticpc and am running Windows 10/ Linux dual boot. I know this thread is old, but for posterity, if you want linux compatibility, DON'T BUY THE NP8652-S! I am running Ubuntu 14.04 currently and the PC is subject to HARD Kernel lockups with no chance of debugging. I have tried several different Ubuntu versions (12.04, 14.10, 15.04, 15.10, 16.04 beta) and they all had the same problem. I think it has something to do with file I/O on the hardware side. I have tried both the 3.8 and 4.2 Linux kernel and the update didn't seem to fix whatever problem I've been having. I am at my wit's end and have decided to just deal with the system crashes when they inevitably arrive since I need a Linux box for work.

If you did end up going with the NP8652-S, let me know how it turned out for you. I may be looking to get a Gigabyte laptop if it will be more stable.

P.S. I have had no similar issues on my Windows 10 OS with this laptop. I think it's Linux kernel not playing well with the hardware...
