Okay I just received my new Sager NP8278-S (Clevo P170SM-A) from XOTIC PC Specs: gtx 870m 6GB and I7-4810MQ 2.8 (3.8GHZ) win 8.1 64 bit pro

it came without an os because i had a windows 8.1 at home already so i installed that on my system. I ran a few benchmarks on my cpu using intel extreme tuning utility and cinebench i have very very low scores..i had 4700hq before my scores are way lower than that cpu...i have 453 marks on xtu...500 score on cinebench 11.5 it's ridiculous.. temps are very low..everything is set to high performance..i installed the driver utilities that came with the laptop.

I mean does any one else have this cpu? its supposed to be so much better than the i7-4700hq.. thats 3.4 ghz 4810 is 3.8 ghz even if i overclock it it has no effect in benchmarks or actual games..i was wondering if anyone could help with that...also i tried to overclock the gpu..as soon as i moved core slider it crashed..so i thought it's driver related since the card is still very new and nvidia hasnt released whql drivers for it yet. but i have seen other people getting good stock overclock scores and i am on the latest beta drivers..

The problem with doing a clean install is that you won't have the Sager drivers.

    Software Upgrade

Install the Sager drivers (chipset drivers before anything else, reboot, next install LAN, reboot, WLAN, then the rest of them can be installed in any order with the hotkey as the last - this should be the most problem-free installation) and see if that clears up your issues with the throttling on the CPU. Make sure to check your temperatures and check for throttling. After the CPU is resolved, try this nVidia driver - NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 337.50 Driver (BETA) BETA

If you're still having problems, give XOTIC a call and see what they have to say about it.

    Ethrem thanks for the reply..

However cpu didnt show any kind of throttling while i watched the temps stay under 65c under load. but it doesnt seem to be running at full speed for some reason..i dont know if optiimus has something to do with it..but like lets say im on high performance mode now..i look at performance it shows 3.69 ghz as soon as i start benchmarking it shows 3.09 ghz never reaches its full potential.. do you think windows 8.1 could be the problem? should i just install win 7?

and yes i will try to uninstall everything and reinstall windows the way u explained..i got two driver utility cds from xotic pc one says win 7 on it the other doesnt say anything so i used the one didnt say anything thinking its win 8.1

It sounds like you need a reinstall. Honestly Windows 7 is generally less problematic than Windows 8.1 is, I would try that with the Windows 7 driver disc (install it as soon as you do your first boot on Windows 7 before doing anything else, including Windows updates - with my Alienware, if you didn't install things in the correct order you had to format and start over or deal with broken things, it wasn't pretty). If that doesn't fix your issues then give XOTIC a call. Or you can do that first, its 24/7 domestic tech support - I'd use it. Might save you a big headache!

Well it sounds like you found a fix by removing XTU. Odd that it would cause such a problem though unless you tweaked settings without realizing it.

yeah that is weird...also found out that when i run preciison x since its not supporting my gpu voltage tuner of precision x crashes and spams my system when i went into task manager there was like 8 voltage tuners hanging in my system using cpu...so i got rid of that everythings back to normal other than that anyone else tried overclocking the 870m? preciison x doesnt support it so i cant adjust the voltage...msi afterburner voltage is only for amd cards..and nvidia inspector didnt work...guess its just too new huh? i can only get +60 on core and +600 on mem for now stable in in bf4.. if i go any higher driver crashes.

You need a modded vbios. I'm not sure if one is available for the 870M (although I think its pretty unlikely since the 880M hasn't been released as of yet either) so you are going to be stuck with what you have for the time being. This is where you would find one if it existed: NVIDIA Kepler VBIOS mods - Overclocking Editions, modified clocks, voltage tweaks

check with supplier first before updating/modding the bios as this can affect warranty with certain suppliers.

you can find all the benchmark tools from futuremark and lots of other stuff in my sig below.
