Have owned this laptop for about 6 months with little to no issues, however recently I've noticed the cpu/mobo to be running very hot. Its sitting at around 80C just casually browsing, and up to 98C when gaming. I've already cleaned the fans and nothing has seemed to change.
Edit: These temps are with fans on max speed

I recommend repasting your machine with a quality paste like IC Diamond.
-
I got it repasted with ICD when i ordered the laptop (~June 2014), do you think its already time for a repasting?
-
I would say, yes, it's surely the thermal past, maybe the job havn't been done correctly in first place.
If you don't see improvments, it's probably your heatsink , a heat-pipe is probably broke ( yup, i used probably 2 times, because it's not something that happen regularly at all ^^), if it's that, send it under warranty

ok thanks, will repaste and see if that helps.

I would try Gelid GC Extreme.. Supposedly it's better then IC Diamond...

You say you cleaned the fans, did you have a look through the heatsink to make sure no dust buildup is in the fins?

Indeed... my heatsink had more dust then the fans when I cleaned my R4..

Are you allowing proper air flow, as in not blocking the bottom by carpet or anything. This allows the proper air intake.
-
No. IC Diamond major reason to use is that it doesn't deteriorate. You don't have to repaste for 5 years I think.
-
I wouldn't bet on that.
-
I would.

That does not mean that it is not possible for it to pump out. I have had it pump out in the past. 90 degrees on max fans propped up playing HEARTHSTONE.

In my old G73JH, this was definetly the case.. It lasted over 4 years and would probably last longer... In my M17x R4, it's been just about a month and a half and temps are begining to increase although I'd say the dust build up in my heatsink is probably causing a bit of it.. IC Diamond is great but no compound is invincible when you have to cool my 3940XM at 4.0GHz
(and 4.5GHz in benches)..
