So I've been narrowing my options down for a desktop replacement for college and gaming. I am trying to stay around $1600, and I'm not overly concerned with weight or size. I will be mostly only transporting it between my home and my fiancé's. I am just about sold on the NP8278-S but I have a couple of questions if anyone cares to help out.

    1) I'm torn between the 880M and 870M, I'm also contemplating the new 900 series. In your opinion is the 880M worth $300?

    2) Are there major throttling issues, heat issues, or other problems with this model?

    3) In your option, for strictly gaming and programming is the 72% NTSC screen worth the $150 premium?

    1. It depends on what games you want to play, and how well you want to play them. The problem is that the 880M has some issues concerning throttling and temperature, so I advise to wait until the 900 series comes out.
    2. I think I answered this question above as well.
    3. I thought the 72% NTSC panel was the stock one? I believe it is fine, but you may want to check the color.

At least on the XoticPC website the 72% NTSC matte and 90% NTSC glossy screen are $150 and $100 upgrades. I've looked around and googled the screen, seems the concensus is that graphic designers and stuff prefer the higher end ones. I'm tempted to upgrade to one or the other...

As far as the 880M goes i'm more concerned about the $300 cost haha, which is kinda silly I guess since i'm in it for so much already. I wonder when we will see the 900 series parts, if October is a realistic date I may need to wait... Is there usually a high premium on the new GPUs?

Considering my lack of halogen lighting i'm really considering the 90% NTSC glossy panel. Anyone here have that screen?

I have one in my P570WM, it's a decent panel for a TN type.

Have heard good things about both screens. Do you have a preference in matte or glossy?
