With the new Nvidia 800 series, I'll be upgrading my laptop. I'm going from an ASUS G73SW-A1. I'm looking at the Sager NP8278-S.

One of my concerns is the mesh looking grill on it.
    NP8278-shl.jpg
On my Asus, that mesh type grill is a nasty crumb magnet! On the Sager is there an easy way to clean it? I'm handy enough with good directions.

Another big concern is the power jack on the back. I'm usually got the laptop when I'm in the recliner and a power adapter that sticks way off the back will eventually get worked loose and will need a replacement. But I never see any pictures of the adapter or it being plugged in.
    1) Is the power jack solid and beefy?
    2) Is there a right angle 90 degree adapter for the jack?
    3) How does Sager treat this repair? Is it accidental damage or limited parts & labor?

    Thanks!

    Hi !
    Let's start answers ! :D
Firstly, the mesh gir IS a crumb manget , not so easy to clean, , but you can dismont it easly, and then put water to clean it ( there is no circuit/oxydizable things ).
Secondly , the power jack is solid in my opinion,, and there is no needle inside the male plug ( like some asus ) i didn't seen much post complaining about jack broke .
YES it is with a 90° angle.
For your last question , i can't help you, sorry.

    Have a good day !

Hi, thanks for taking the time to answer. My choices are between the Sager/Clevo and a MSI GT70 Dominator-895. The power connection is my biggest concern. Keeping it from looking embarrassingly dirty is another.

I'm coming from a GT60 ( 2012 gen ) , the power connector is now for both a 90° degree one, mine lasted 18 month without any problem ( being transported/plugged/unplugged 4 times a day ),-then the motherboard died ^^.
I recommend you the clevo, i have a better expericence with him ( no cheap plastic, a bit thinner and lighter, better cooling ).
comparing MSI and clevo, the main disadvantages (imo) about the clevo is noises and integrated speaker.
About cleaning, the MSI is easier to clean, but much more dirty-able ( don't know the real word sorry ) , the matte finish of clevo is impossible to make dirty, and don't show fingertips /grease

    Hope i helped

Do you even own this model Laptop? Your answers are completely WRONG!!!

I am the proud owner of this exact model laptop, purchased from XOTIC PC on April 5th.

Firstly, The mesh looking grill, isn't a mesh grill at all. It's just a pattern in the casing and is NOT a crumb magnet and is super easy to clean.

Secondly, the power jack at the back is kind of annoying. I have no clue why they would put it at the back. Also it is NOT a 90degree connector. I often use it while sitting on the couch and it has wriggled loose many times and fallen out. You just have to get used to it and it's not really a major problem.

Otherwise it truly is an awesome and super powerful laptop. Runs every game i've thrown at it so far in ULTRA mode with ease.

It's not a mesh design on the top case below the screen, as soccerplayer said, but a series of shallow, square indentions. It's near smooth and easy to clean. :)

The power brick is not angled, either. There is no alternative plug from Clevo or Sager for the 4-pin male jack, and the power brick IS rather big and beefcake, but it's build quality is solid. If too much strain is put on the jack or adapter, causing wear and tear to it, there's a fairly good possibility of it not being covered under warranty and deemed accidental damage. That will need to be played by ear upon inspection.
