    1. Remove all screws from back.
    2. Remove keyboard (careful it has a cable connected), remove screws underneath keyboard.
    3. Remove backcover

    Something similar to this:

i bought from gentech, apparently they have removed keyboard screws while apply thermal paste and didn't put them back.

I'm on the verge of buying this laptop in 15.6", just deciding between the 144Hz FHD (1080p) or the 4K UHD. I primarily use a desktop rig, so the laptop won't be used nearly as much, but when I do use it, it will be used for both gaming and productivity. I'm definitely leaning toward the 144Hz, because at 60Hz I am much more likely to suffer motion sickness when gaming (I'm assuming the 4K is 60Hz), and also I'm not really seeing the point of 4K on a 15.6" panel. Other than that, the machine looks awesome. Any comments? I wish they still made 1440p panels, annoys me that nobody makes them for laptops anymore.

I have the 4k version and the screen is amazing, especially for watching media. Personally I didn't bother with the 144hz since I don't play high FPS competitive games that benefit from those. I don't reach 144 anyway on the highest settings lmao. I don't think I can go back to 1080p, but the hit on battery life is noticeable.

Yeah 1080p does feel like a step backwards - wish they made 1440p, it's such a good compromise, especially for 15.6" laptops. Good point about the battery too.

To be fair, none of us are buying these things for the battery life. :biglaugh:

Hopefully more panel manufacturers move to 1440p but I think since 1080p yields so well at the moment they are resistant.

I have this laptop and I find 1080p to be fine for a screen this size.
Going above 1080p is diminishing returns for a screen this size unless you get super close to it.
For 1440p I find 23 to 27 inch the perfect size. Below that is 1080p territory.
For 4k I have a 65inch TV and you have to get within 6 feet before noticing a big difference in detail.
4k on a laptop screen is wasteful with how much more demanding it is for games and how little a difference it makes from 1080p.
I'd rather have a 1080p laptop screen with HDR support.

If you don't care about battery a 120hz 4k would do well as it can always run the games at 1080p but your eyes are going to determine if that's useful.

Has there been any news about the 30xx GPUs in laptops, or anything new in Clevos lineup?

Does anyone know what the differences are between the NP8358 and Microcenter PowerSpec 1530? The things I noticed were the 240Hz screen, TB3, glass trackpad, per-key rgb, 1TB ssd, and W10 pro.

    Thanks.

As far as I'm aware all the current PF51 laptops have lost the TB3, per-key keyboard, etc. Sounds like they're all probably the same as the MC version now. The PB71s all retain those lost features though which is really weird.

@Meaker@Sager How are the temps on the PC70 compared to the PB71. Wife's looking for a new laptop and between those two.

Not had a look yet to be honest. Usually the thicker chassis will be cooler.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought (only the 17incher has the extra features), but the microcenter listing/review says otherwise. I was surprised at the price difference $1549 with the extra features vs $1699 without.

For the record I have the 15inch sager version. I tried the 17, but the fit and finish was lacking.

The MC PB71 lacks the extra features as well. But most of the rest (Sager, Xotic, ProStar, etc) have the full featured 17".

I have 15 Sager as well, the first iteration with the 8750H, and love it aside from getting higher temps than alot of others. Dont think my heatsink makes good contact but nothing I do seems to help. I'm mostly fine if I keep the FPS locked at 60. Might wait till the 30xx laptops release eventually and upgrade to the PBxx replacement.

MC do special editions for themselves, usually with bits stripped out to help lower the price.

Looks like we're finally getting some 1440p panels with the new 3000 series laptops.

It has been a few years, mine is one that had the compromises to get there.

Does anyone have the exact measurements for thermal pads for the different parts of the heatsink of the PB51DF? The thermals of the 10875H are awful even with undervolt. So I'm hoping fully replacing the pads with Gelid Exteme/Ultimate will help spread the heat better.

It looks like there's a 3mm pad in some spots. But if anyone has already done a replacement, it will save me the time taking it apart and measuring before ordering.

You can find slight variations from unit to unit so if you can measure it that can be for the best.
