    SO I'm playing around with Filezilla on a brisk Christmas Morn, when all of a sudden I realize that I can't connect to my server anymore! Looking at my wifi bar I notice that it looks normal, but when troubleshooting this error pops up:

    I've reinstalled my OS TWICE, went into command prompt and according to this website's instructions typed the whole netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt.

    http://windowsreport.com/windows-could-not-automatically-detect-networks-proxy-settings/

    Disabled my antivirus (I only have windows defender at this point) and still after restarting nothing changes. I reinstalled my laptop drivers as well that came with my PC and its STILL giving me this error. Seriously what's going on? Is my wifi card acting up all of a sudden? I contacted my ISP and they think its a manufacturer issue. I also went with them and checked my internet settings and everything seems normal. I don't get it, what am I missing here?

    I use an Arris Surfboard SB6190 cable modem btw and connected to that modem is an ASUS RT-AC5300 which is is giving me wifi. Connected to that is a Nighthawk AC1900 to extend the number of connections and both are using the default settings so I'm not sure if it's my routers and perhaps my network card is becoming faulty. Any ideas? Anyone with a Sager NP8651 / Clevo P650SE experiencing this issue?

    And Merry Christmas!

    Try turning your DHCP server on and off in your router.

    Ok tried doing that and even though it didn't fix the problem it helped me narrow down the issue! OK so for me I found out that after about an hour of playing around the ASUS RT-AC5300 either isn't able to pull the DHCP IP address or it uses some sort of built in proxy that I don't know of. I switched to the Netgear 1900's wifi and found out that it does in fact retain the ISPs DHCP settings / IP and thus has no issues. That being said all I had to do was switch the router configuation so it looks like this:

    ISP ->CABLE MODEM -> NETGEAR AC1900 -> ASUS RT-AC5300

    And afterwards I put the ASUS in AP mode which allowed it to simply act as a wifi extender to the netgear one while keeping all my networks the same. Finally I can stop pulling my hair out (or whatever is left of it!) Thanks!

    Nice, DHCP handling over multiple devices can be handled poorly in commercial equipment.
