    Hey guys,

I just received a Sager NP8651 and I'd like to know if it's possible to use the Fingerprint reader for password protected sites? If so, how and what software did you use?

    Cheers,

    grecinos

There is software on your computer for the fingerprint reader from Clevo. Just run it and follow instructions and it will do what you are asking.

I'm able to login to Windows 7 with the fingerprint reader. However, I can't find the option to use it for password protected sites. The Windows control panel says that "There are no fingerprint readers available at this time." I know it's installed because the Device Manager says:
"BIOS Fingerprint Reader" and "EgisTec ES603". I installed the drivers from the included driver CD. Any ideas?

I wanted to post and update because I found the solution to my problem. After tinkering around and contacting Sager tech support, I was able to get the fingerprint reader to work with password protected websites. The solution was to install the latest drivers from Clevo's website. Then I installed the BioExcess software that came with the laptop. Apparently Internet Explorer has to detect the plugin that allows for it to start using the fingerprint reader. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but those were the steps that I took to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the follow up with the solution.

You mentioned IE, did you try other browsers to see if they also did not work before doing the updates.

Pretty sure chrome doesn't work. Google disallowed unofficial plug ins awhile back and authentec which is now apple owned never followed up with a plug in the chrome plug in store. Another reason to hate apple. And I haven't heard of any other company coming up with something. Supposedly Firefox allows the protector suite to work with websites but I haven't used Firefox in quite awhile.
