    Hey guys,

    My NP8660 is running W7 x64
I'm running at 1440x900 and have aero and other effects disabled

I did notice that my GPU clocks are always at maximum even when I go into power saver mode. The only thing that downclocks it a bit is when I go into silent mode.

    I have Sager's windows 7 drivers installed

Just wait a bit. GPU-Z always ramps up the clocks whenever you open it.

I'm positive the issue is unrelated to GPU-Z

I just saw a new driver release for Clevo notebooks..
I will try it and report back here

It is most likely a Driver related Powermizer issue. Try a few different ones.

What's the specific driver version? Regardless, you need to be using 186.81, direct from Nvidia, which has Powermizer functioning correctly.

Mine doesn't change on its own either. I assumed it was because I have a 280M.

But I used a command-line program to make it so my 280M downclocks when I unplug my laptop, and the clocks return to normal whenever I plug it back in.

Unless you are using an external screen, in which case your GPU will lock to high clocks.

By default the powermizer kicks in only when you on batteri
you have to download the program powermizer switch

No, it kicks in when 3d clocks are not necessary, on battery or not.

The 195.XX drivers behave like that, often locking the GPUs at their max clocks.
If reverting to the 186.xx doesn't permanently solve the issue, re-flash the BIOS.

Yeah that's the problem it's not kicking in at all when it's plugged in. edit: even in PowerSaver mode

I'm using the drivers supplied by Sager. The version is 8.15.11.8647 ForceWare 186.47

When I upgraded Windows I upgraded all my drivers except the BIOS.
    Should I update it?

Anything I should know before updating the BIOS?

Leave your BIOS alone. Install 186.81

:D Install Dox 195.62 and set the power management mode to adaptive (powermizer) when installing the driver. Some gpu card clock up and down when brouwsing internet with this driver, but this is not a big problem for me....

You can,t chance any gpu setting in the power managament panel from windows.

Link to the 64bit win7 tweakt Dox driver: http://files.laptopvideo2go.com/Dox/Win7x64/195.62_Win7x64 1.1.exe

I hate Dox's drivers. everything in windows becomes very sluggish...

Anyway I updated the BIOS and installed the new Clevo drivers (187.71), and Powermizer is working again.

    Thanks for the help
