    Hey Guys,

I have a Sager Np8660 with a 9800M GTS [which I've very happy with and grateful for this site and its members who helped me pick it]

but I've been having issues with dual screen set up... basically I'm trying to connect and external monitor and have my desktop extended [I already have a similar set up with my desktop machine so I know how to set it up] but the Sager is not cooperating...

When I connect a monitor with either DVI, DVI-VGA adapter, or HDMI cable.. it does not detect it if i was using DVI.. I need to reboot with the DVI pluged in to detect it... HDMI gets detected normally.. but with both case it doesnt allow me to use dual screens [my laptop + the external] it will only allow me to clone.. If i try to set it to dual the screens black out for a sec [which is normal] then freeze for a sec [it seems its trying for figure something out] but then it switches automatically to single view..

this is the same using the display properties in windows and using the Nvidia control panel...

The 2 main issues I really need resolved is the having to reboot to detect DVI [which is really annoying when I need to do presentation] and the inability to use dual screens...

    My specs:
    Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit
9800M GTs [PS it says its Nvidia Geforece 9800M GT and not GTS in the device manager, but at XoticPC where I bought it it says GTS, I did download and install the latest drivers though
    Centrino2 P9500 2.53GHZ
    4 GB DDR3 ram

Any suggestions/advice is appreciated.. This has been causing unnecessary problems at school and work...

If I remember correctly... I thought the Sager m86tu didn't support 44+ TDP (well appears X9100 works fine) Graphics card like the 9800m GTX. I'm pretty sure u have a 9800m GT not GTX.

Anyhow, maybe it's due to drivers maybe? U could have installed GTX drivers insteaad of GT? Not really sure, I am a notebook noob =|

The 8660 does not have a GTX in it; it can't due to thermal issues. Either you have a GT or a GTS.
