    Hi,
I'm going to visit the USA and buy this notebook there. The problem is that I don't know any shops in NY where I can buy Sager. Can you help me in this question? I have found one.. https://secure.pctorque.com/system-configuration.aspx?SystemsID=44 but I don't know is it reliable?

Another question is the LCD of the notebook...they have two LCD monitors and I don't know which is better for gaming?
15.4" WSXGA+ Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy LCD with Wide Viewing Angle (1680x1050)
15.4" WUXGA Ultra Bright Matte LCD with Wide Viewing Angle (1920x1200)

    Thanks for help..

Welcome to NBR Forums. Regarding PC Torque - There is a discussion of that seller on the first page right now. Also check the sticky note: Clevo Buying Guide, it should have reviews of the PCToque on it as well.

I would recommend getting the WSGA+; I have the 8662 model right now and it works great on it. From what I have read, WUXGA makes working in Windows a pain, as everything gets very small. It might make a difference when playing games, but I don't think it's worth it. I use an external 24" monitor for games anyway, as I am sure a lot of people do when they are at home.

    Good Luck!

the Optical Drive noise is very rare.

Sager uses different optical drives from time to time.

So if you ever have an issue, they will send you a new replacement.

And as for you picking up the system in New York, its very difficult since Sager is located in California.

Their resellers, like PCtorque may be located in the East Coast, but they do not have the systems there, they need to order it from Sager when you make an order.

So you will have to order it ahead of time through PCtorque and get the details on how you would be able to pick it up.

One thing to keep in mind as well, if you pick a system up, you're going to have to pay state sales tax (which you won't pay if you order online for delivery from some state you don't reside in); since PCTorque is located in Nassau County, NY, that means adding an extra 8.625% to the total cost of your system.

The drive the I currently have is a bit on the loud side, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's a problem.

As other people have commented. If you are thinking of actually ordering the laptop online for delivery and are doing it from PCTorque just because they are in NY, I would go with another reseller and recommend XoticPC or PowerNotebooks. The laptop will probably arrive around the same time anyway.

I live not in the USA, so it will be a litle difficult to replace the notebook..

Shyster1, so what I should do to avoid tax if I'm a traveller?

Usually, in Europe anyway, you are able to bring the receipt to a special office (often situated in the airport) where they will refund the tax. I'm not sure how they do it in New York though.

Unlike European VATs, US state sales taxes are almost universally not refundable to travellers (the exception appears to be Louisiana, which at least used to have a program that provided refunds to departing international travellers). As a result, if you pay the tax, you cannot get a refund back simply because you're an international traveller.

To avoid the tax, you must arrange for the good to be delivered to you outside of the state in which the seller does business - in this case, New York. The simplest way is the method used by most of the internet resellers, which is to have the goods drop-shipped to the buyer out-of-state by the actual producer from whom the reseller "buys" the goods when a customer or other end-user orders from the reseller.

So, for example, if you take delivery of a computer from PCTorque in New York State, you will be charged NYS sales tax (and any applicable county sales tax). However, if you buy that same computer online and arrange to have it delivered to you either (a) at your home address, or (b) at a verifiable address in, for example, New Jersey, then you will not be charged NYS sales tax - you will also not be charged New Jersey sales tax since New Jersey would not have the requisite nexus, or connection, to the sales transaction.

So if I visit NY it's better for me to book notebook from XoticPC or PowerNotebooks, that situated not in NY? Can they deliver computer in a hotel?
And it's important for me to pay by cash..

Another question is heating of Sager..Is it so high as topic starter said here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=373436

you can wire transfer money to one of the Sager vendors.... thats pretty much cash payment (which gives you the cash discount).... then ask them to send it where ever you want to receive it.

that thread is actually a rare one, it should not happen to you.

Many many owners have not had such issues.

I'm sure that a reseller could in theory have a system shipped to a hotel, although I don't know if any of them would do so without some assurances that they wouldn't be on the hook if some bell-boy stole the thing before you could pick it up.

Basically, if you want to avoid sales tax, you have to keep the sales transaction outside of the state in which the reseller does business, including both the making of the transaction and the delivery of the goods.

Were I you, I would call up several of the resellers directly and discuss with them the logistics of getting a system delivered to where ever you want it delivered.
