    1. I have recently been considering purchasing the sager NP8662 notebook to use for college/gaming. I do not know much about the company, and so I am curious what experiences people have had with their customer service. I have been trying to find reviews and have seen some horror stories about people sending their laptops in for repairs and never having them returned or being charged several unknown fees, etc. Just curious if anyone else had experienced this or if this is just a rare case.

    2. Also, could some of these problems be remedied based on what reseller you purchase through?

    3. Has anyone noticed any overheating issues with the NP8662?

NP8662 notebook specs I am considering:
    Intel Core 2 duo P8700, 2.53 GHz
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M
    4 GB DDR3
Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit)

You're not taking any less of a chance when you're buying from say Dell or HP or Alienware. In fact the build quality of Clevos exceeds the vast majority of consumer laptops.

The only advice would be to not buy from Sager directly but from a reputable reseller like XoticPC or PowerNotebooks. Their deals are usually even better than direct from Sager and are also better with consumer relations.

I recommend XoticPC, they alsp have price match in case you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

As for after service, I have yet to have any experience with either XoticPC or sager itself, but XoticPC has been more then accommodating to my numerous, if downright stupid, questions.

As for heating, it seems like for the most part that people don't seem to experience too much of an overheating problem, except for my hdd, which I have been told is still withen ok limits.

    Your build seems fine.

A P8700 and a GTX 260M will never overheat. You have nothing to worry about, jclem88. Just treat her like a lady and she'll be good for life.

Yeah the HDD temps get a lot of peoples' attention but I assure you the HDD, while it runs warmer than most other systems, will not go into the danger zone unless it's defective. A high but stable HDD temp is not a terrible price to pay for [relatively] cool running CPUs/GPU.

My cousin just got done playing Crysis for a good hour or more, not sure, and it was after e. My HDD temps reached in the 60's, 63 highest, for the first time ever.

Is this "safe"? Its not often, or ever, that it gets this hot.

Normally it caps at 54-56 from playing Crysis. Maybe it was the way he was playing with the laptop on his lap? I don't know, but when he handed to me, y lptop was HOT, saw the temps, danm.

When doing normal web searching and stuff, my HDD temps are in the 40's. Idle can go as low as 33 or so. Crysis makes it work the hardest besides FarCry 2, but NORMALLY, Like I said, they only get to 56 and nothing more.

    :(

It was just because he was playing in his lap.. thats definitely not a great idea.. especially with crysis.

As for the cooling of the GPU and CPU... I gotta say.. its iiiicccceeee cold. I ran Furmark for 20 mins and the max temp I got was 84 C. Temps never get higher than low 70's, even playing Crysis.

I got a config simmilar with yours only with the T9900 and seagate 7200.4. I almost built the system by myself (bought the cpu for ~400 of ebay, a really good deal) since the only part the laptop came with was the 260m.

    So ab horror stories,
I assembled every thing nice and by the (service)book, plugged it in and pressed the power button...
The screen was split in two vertically, a shade of gray and the other side white. I was really scared, like ... I left it charging 5 more minures, same gray tones, different patterns...

At this time I took everyithing appart, even the vga and wlan adapter and rebuilt the whole laptop.

This time it booted like there never was anything wrong and until today I don't know what the issue was since (even if it was my first laptop) I can swear I did everything right.

Till now (~1mont old) it behaved excelently, the built quality is awsome and the only "issue" is the hdd temperature, but not because it's too high, but because you can feel it under the palm of your right hand :)
Maybe an ssd could solve this?

Anyway I highly recommend this nb since it practically has no competitor in the 15" range!

Well, to tell the truth, at the high load the HDD will go over 60C. That includes virus checking, defrag, some games, etc. 60C-65C is a "danger zone" for HDDs. It's fine as long as it doesn't go over 65C, however. That's when it's problematic. Under 65C is fine.

I'd never recommend running anything intense without a cooler, in which case I've never had the HDD go over 53C.
