I just changed thermal compound in my NP8690 and I'm curious what temperatures other people's NP8690s get under load and idling. I have not removed the stickers yet. Specs:

    i7 620m
    HD Radeon 5870 Mobile

    Idle:

    GPU: 50 - 53 C
CPU: 38 - 50 C (Sticker has not been removed)

    Load:

GPU: 81 C (Crysis benchmark at very high after 15 or 18 times around the Island)
CPU: 75 C (I'm guessing it reaches 80s in games like GTA IV)

I think my scratched heatsink on the CPU may be responsible for my temps, which are a bit hotter than my brother's using the same compound. I'm using Arctic MX3 compound on the CPU and GPU. I'm not sure how good my application was. I'm curious to hear what other people's temperatures are, and if mine are normal.

Why didnt you remove the sticker? Should reduce the CPU temp by 10°C... now it is higher than it could be. GPU temps look normal.

Ok, I ran 20 reps of a Crysis CPU benchmark, the GPU stopped at 83 degrees C and hovered around 82, and the CPU stopped at 79 degrees and hovered at around 74 - 78. Will these temperatures affect my performance, or are they ok?

As far as I know, thermal compounds have a break-in period and it usually takes around 10 to 15 days so you're not getting the best temps yet - unless you've got a planned thermal cycle going on.

I play GTA IV at least two hours per session and as far as I played it on my system since I've bought it, the max temp hit was 72C (on reseller applied AS5).
