Anyone own or tried the Sager NP8753R / Clevo PC50HR laptop? I can't seem to find a review anywhere (including searching these forums). Looks pretty good, but I would really like to see a couple of user reviews. XoticPC are selling it ( link).

Appreciate anyone chiming in if you have any experience with this model.

Being that it's 11th gen it probably hasn't landed in too many hands yet. Might be a long wait for reviews to start popping up. If it has the features you're looking for then get it.

I have and love this laptop as a backup to my main Sager.
Any idea where the cmos might be? I was swapped m.2s and now either m.2 slot is reading and I cannot boot the system

edit: or as Tech Junky posted above, just pull the CMOS battery. :)

Thanks everyone. Yeah I didn’t see the battery on the underside which means it’s likely under the keyboard. I’ll take a look when I get home and upload pictures of the internals so everyone can get an idea of this new chassis.
Still so weird that me adding an m.2 made it so neither m.2 slot seems to work. I can’t even do a fresh install as when I’m in windows installer it doesn’t see any drives.

    @Kman1898

Check the BIOS for the settings if you already accidently cleared the CMOS it might have switched from BIOS >> UEFI and just needs to be reverted to enable the drives again. The battery's tend to be in plain site btu, sometimes they'll be off to the side of the chassis or along the bottom near the main battery.

Also RAID Vs AHCI for boot mode can make it not boot.

Hi Meaker. Can you tell me if the NP8753R bios allows access to set the ram to XMP?

If it makes a difference, I'll be buying through XoticPC. Their default model has a single stick of 16GB @ 3200MHz (unknown brand, something cheap and generic probably). I have some Kingston Fury Impact ram I am planning to drop in - 2x16GB 3200MHz CL20 1.2V, so I'm wondering if that will need to be set in BIOS or if I can just plug and play at the 3200MHz rating...

Edit: just found the spec sheet ( link).. it seems 3200MHz is default, so I should be good, right?

    FACTORY TIMING PARAMETERS
    • Default (Plug N Play): DDR4-3200 CL20-22-22 @1.2V
    • XMP Profile #1: DDR4-3200 CL20-22-22 @1.2V
    • XMP Profile #2: DDR4-2933 CL17-19-19 @1.2V

I was looking at some Ballistix, also 3200MHz but Cas16, then saw it was 1.35V which means I'd probably need bios access to set it to XMP, otherwise a lot of laptops will default those to the lower powered 2666MHz or maybe 2933MHz speeds depending on whatever JEDEC timings the laptop decides when XMP cannot be accessed...

    Appreciate any help on this.

I would just go off the PnP speeds, it's usually goldkey ram that is used. That Kinston kit should work.

Just chiming in to say I've owned this laptop for about a month (purchased through Xotic PC) and I'm loving it so far. I was also disappointed by the lack of user reviews, despite many google searches, but I took a chance anyway. It turned out to be a nice laptop, in my opinion.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any.

As a side note, I wrote a (brief) review on the Xotic PC site last night to hopefully help others. I'm guessing it hasn't been approved yet cuz I'm not seeing it show up on their store page.

Hey, have you had any issues with the trackpad? Particularly the middle of the track pad near where the fingerprint scanner is?

Thanks for the responses on this thread. I decided to wait for 12th Gen CPU models since they are not far away - I spoke to someone at Sager and they expect to be releasing some 12 Gen models probably in March-April. Also spoke to XoticPC and they are expecting 12th Gens maybe mid-February (looks like MSI may be the first ones from what I can see).

Very sad to see these forums closing, and equally frustrating that the owners are apparently not willing to part with the database for any price, but have chosen to destroy this huge trove of information instead.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Certainly some odd politics with this one.
