Guys, ive been searching since yesterday for a way to fix my problem or at least get an answer but nothing...so im starting this thread.

I bought my sager about 3 months ago (NP8760). I never had a problem with it till 2 days ago. It started beeping while I played a game and after a while it simply shut down. I downloaded a program to look at the temps and I can see my cores are at 50-55c at idle and as soon as I use the pc for work or gaming it jumps up to 68-75c and keep beeping until I stop everything and let the pc cool down (or it shuts down by itself at around 75-79c). It goes up alot faster when Im playing a game. Also the pc beeped when I started up the laptop, twice, ...but I think it was after a shutdown (beeped alot while loading the OS)...or else it starts just fine.

I also found that my fans are not making the same noise they used to make... I used to hear them scream for air when playing games but now I hardly hear them at all...maybe im juste hearing the gpu fan...? The GPU seems fine , sitting at around 43c at idle and never seem to overheat like the cores do.

What can I do?? ....ahhrrgh....just writting this made my pc overheat , it beeped...and stopped. ('capslock' and 'numlock' buttons also falsh when it beeps.) I looked at the fans and theres nothing preventing the air from circulating normaly inside and out the pc.

Thanks for helping, this is also the pc I use for the job so I need to fix this asap!

    thanks,

PS: Should I buy a cooling plate and let the pc sit on it?...Although the pc is supposed to cool up by itself..

    Justin.

It is likely that your CPU fan has failed. Check with your reseller.

^^Agreed. Had almost exactly the same symptoms when my 8760 was delivered. Turned out that the power lead to the CPU fan, although appearing to be connected, was not properly seated. Simply pushing down on the lead/connector fixed the problem.

Remove the bottom cover, turn the laptop on its side so you can see the fans, boot up and wait until the CPU hits 50C. If the fan does not spin up, then either the fan itself or its power source needs attention.

^^ now I wish I had the tools to do it.. I have all screwdrivers but I cant find one that will fit in the hole thats like 3/4 miles inside a tiny space as large as the head of the screw....im screwed.. .. :/

time to find the right tool...(why did I have to unscrew all the other 12 screws before banging on the last one that un-reachable..lol..)

And that last one seems particularly unnecessary. LOL. I had to send someone to the hardware store for a micro or "jeweler" set of Phillips screwdrivers when I first opened it up.

I almost forgot about that screw while opening up. I was yanking on the back cover in frustration only to stop and realize there was that one screw left. Luckily I have a pretty complete set of screwdrivers.

ok , I opened it last night and applied pressure on the fan connectors to make sure they were correctly connected...played a bit with the wings to make sure they were not stuck and could rotate easily.. closed the case and boot up. Erything is back to normal, I played for 2-3 hours last night and it never went higher than 62-64c which I guess is better now.

Now I cross my fingers and hope its stays like that for a while! :/
