I've had my Sager NP9150 for about a year and a half and its been working good up until a couple of weeks ago the battery started dying really fast. Unplugging it from a full charge it would give me the warning that the system is low on power after about 20 mins. For the past couple of days when the laptop isnt plugged in and gets down to about 80% or lower it just randomly shuts off with no warning. Then the laptop won't turn on without the charger.

Seems like the battery is done. Need to know for sure before I spend $100 on a new battery.

Any help would be great! Thanks.

Have a look at a monitoring program and look at the wear level.

try battery care or battery bar in my sig below.

but if hwmonitor says 84% wear then that sure is on its last legs.

my laptop which is the same as yours and 2 years old now only has 8% wear the last time i looked and its been plugged in continuously and only used on battery about 10 times in 2 years. think its had maybe 4 or 5 total drain cycles.

heat is a batterys worst nightmare.
my 6 year old clevo's battery only lasted just under a year and it was down to 20% charge and it was replaced under warranty. 5 years later that replacement battery still has about 75% charge left in it.

Battery Care and Battery Bar both say wear level is 83%. Guess its time to buy a new battery... Interesting how yours lasted for 2 years and mine one year and a half. Don't use it for gaming too often. but I do have it on just about everyday.

but my battery on my newest clevo has lasted 2 years with only 8% wear.
i never have and never will use the battery for gaming when using a dedicated gpu as thats the easiest way to kill it eaarly.

and my 5 year old battery on my m860tu still has only 25% wear.

Every part is different and the environmental temperatures (mostly the change in temperature) can have a big impact. Rapid discharges or many 95->100% charges also impact life a lot.

Sorry to resurrect this topic but what is the best site to buy a battery for my np9150?

Also, think I figured out why my battery wear level is so high. On a way back from a road trip in the Summer I had the laptop inside the bag while in a car that was really hot. Even worse I had the bag with the laptop in it near the window that had the sun beaming down on it. So that might have been the cause.

You need to ask a reseller if they can supply a new battery. Components like that are not normally listed on their sites, but they should be able to obtain them. Ebay or similar is also an option.

I'm on the P150HM which isn't exactly the same model but I'm gonna post in this thread anyway; my batterywear is 24,83% according to batterycare. How bad is that? It's just, when unplugged Windows doesn't report any "estimated time" left which is a bad sign too but all also goes well then suddenly, not sure at what stage, it just bam - goes to 7% remaining. I tried to enter BIOS when it was near dead in order to see if it was just the operating system reporting wrong infomation, but it did indeed shut down not long after.

Is it safe to conclude I need a new battery? This one must be from 2011 or something...

You probably do, your voltage is crashing after a certain amount of draw so your wear will actually be higher than is being reported.

It's hard to say if it's genuine.
