I am considering a Sager NP9150 to replace my Surface Pro as it is just too small. Is there someone here that can confirm that the fingerprint reader does work with Windows 8? I know that the Sager site has the driver, but does it also include software that works with Windows 8?

    Thanks

    Scott

Yes, it works perfectly well. I have been using it for launching applications and loging in into Windows 8.

    Cheers

I'm not sure if the NP9150 uses the same sensor as the NP9370, but I had issues with it working on Windows 8 on my NP9370. The drivers say "for Windows 8" on the Sager website, but AuthenTec does not have an officially supported package for Windows 8. AuthenTec Customer Support > Downloads > Windows > TrueSuite

I'm having problems with my Sager NP9150 as the fingerprint reader doesn't work.

I have the drivers from Sager installed for Windows 8. I'm running 64 bit Win 8 Pro.
The strange thing is that in Device Manager it says that the device is working properly but when I go to control panel->Biometric Device it says that it is Unavailable.
When I launch the Authentec software it does not display any finger diagram but just a generic image of 10 columns.

Previously when my computer was on Win 7 Pro, it was working fine. Then I upgraded my OS to Win 8 Pro. Everything works fine except for the Fingerprint Reader.

Can someone help me on this?

Fingerprint Reader update from Win 8 updates ( december last year or something ) screwed up the reader installation for me.. I just went to control panel and device manager, and rolled back previous Fingerprint Reader driver. After that and restart, go to all installed programs and double click Authentec fingerprint reader and you are good to go. This does the trick for me :)

I haven't updated using Win 8 updates. I've updated everything else except Fingerprint Reader update and even though, it still doesn't work.

I did an uninstall on the driver to put it back to the default Win8 based driver. I read somewhere that by doing this to get it back to its default UPEK driver would make it work but it still wouldn't.

Anyway here is the screen shot you asked for:

This was what mine was like before I did an uninstall. Either way none worked. :(

OK I'll ty that. In the meantime I did a Win8 Microsoft update and I got this after the update:
A newer version: 1.6.2.352 still won't work. Strange.
