I have a sager np9150 with Samsung 2x4gb 1600mhz 12800 M471B5273DH0-CK0 ram and having trouble finding two more the same as modules of the same type for my laptop. I have come across Samsung Electronics Extreme Low Voltage 30nm SODIMM 8 Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM MV-3T4G3D/US but its a different model number.

    Amazon.com: Samsung Electronics Extreme Low Voltage 30nm SODIMM 4 Not a kit (Single) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM MV-3T4G3/US: Electronics

I know types of ram don't matter too too much, but I would like to keep it the same, and since its a low voltage ram to start with i am trying to find something that has the same voltage, transfer and bus speeds.

when i google the part number, this is the first result. ( superbiiz on bbb.)

forum rules also require you to wait 24 hours before bumping a thread.

I also googled the part number and saw that listing but it looked very shady to me and the BBB link you sent confirms that. I'm wondering if the link of the other ram will work instead since it comes from an accredited site and still keep the same voltage speed and all the rest.

    Anyone else with input?

i figured you would've found that too. i think the bbb listing confirms more the number of orders/quantity of business that this company does really. the link i included states that 31 of 32 complaints were resolved (they're batting .969 with the bbb). you can find reviews on their own site going back to 2006. here are some more qualified reviews/ratings imho. in 2012 i'd take the plunge over mixing ram. i'll let you know how timely my two new sticks make it to me. :D

not yet. 16gb total memory is quite a bit more than i need, but for $45 i'm seriously considering it.

With the way apps are going its a cheap upgrade to future proof. I multitask alot with various games running and programs so it might help a little.

I think 8gb will still get you the same results in gaming as 16gb for years to come.

Maybe so, maybe no. Take a look at the recommended requirements for MechWarrior Online, they suggest 8GB of RAM. Grant you that is "recommended" but it could very well be a sign of changes in gaming to come.

I remember when World of Warcraft came out, recommended RAM was 1GB with minimum being 512. Now they recommend 2GB, but I can tell you it makes a difference having at least 4GB in the system.

I guess we can wait and see what the gaming market brings us in the next year, the above is just a speculation. ;)

Does having a lot of tabs open and 2 or 3 games open matter for the amount of ram that is used?

It seems like such a no brainer for something so cheaply upgradeable. Is there anyway to force the system to increase its usage of the additional ram? I have an ssd set up with 8gb of ram and it's fast as hell, but how does a system like this that is all solid state memory figure out what is faster? A ram disk or systems cache on the ssd?

I bought the two sticks from superbiz and took 2 min to install. Perfect match going to run mem86 on them over night to make sure they are good but for the 50$ it's worth the upgrade to me if I only notice the different 30% of the time when I'm really taxing my system.

How long do you think mem86 will take to run on 16gb of ram?

Speed: Ram > SSD of course :) In the order of 10x or more.

Modern operating systems are pretty splendid at memory management. Not sure how windows does it but in Linux any memory not used for applications and data will be used as additional cache space. After a full day of uptime on my machine I usually have 1-2gb ram free of 24gb total while, and the rest used as cache and by the system. I also have a 8gb tmpfs mounted where I do all my code compilation and downloads.

You can either manually force it to use more ram with ramdisks, or just let the system handle it for you. It's pretty smart :)

I would say go with 16 GB , a lot of games are actually starting to use more than 8 GB plus a lot of titles next year will use a lot of rams . Also its good for multitasking. For example, I have 9 chrome tabs running with bf3 and at the same time I have mmorpg opened but minimized because I am selling items lol , so I need good amount of ram. One last important to me is ram drive, I 8 GB on myvirtual machine to boot up backtrack 5 r3 and its crazy fast :D

You cab set it as much as you want , depends on your need but you cant use 14 GB or more because windows 64 bit need at least 4 GB of ram to run it . the second question I didn't quite understand it  . you want to install windows on ssd ? . if the so , then you need winodows cd or usb flash windows 7 bootablle to install windows on ssd. Its the same just like installing hardisk

    by this:
    Download Primo Ramdisk Standard/Professional/Ultimate/Server Edition

    or this :

RAMDisk - Software - Server Memory Products & Services - Dataram

remember when you restart your computer your hard rive disappear because ram is only temporary memory storage but very fast . However, these software have the option of creating hard rive every time you restart your computer so you won't do it every time
