Well unfortunately in an effort to reset the cmos, by removing the battery I accidentally damaged the tip of the male connecter (well it was very fragile and brittle, just kind of fell apart actually). So any chance I can buy a new one?

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these? Thanks for any help here.

The batteries arent anything specific, you can take it to radio shack or walgreens and they should carry it, probably around $5. Is it a CR2016 or CR2032 or something like that?

Did you damage the battery or the holder it's seated in? If you broke that holder, it's going to require a bit of elbow grease and some solder to fix yourself (assuming you can't just RMA it). It sounds like you were referring to the bit of metal that goes around to make contact with the positive side of the CMOS battery.

If it's just the battery you broke, as Hutsady said, it's a cheap replacement (usually CR2032). If it's the holder, well, you may need to rig something up if you're out of warranty and/or don't feel comfortable soldering.

..or you could just ignore it if you can deal with a bios that doesn't remember settings and a clock in your OS that's never right :D

There is no holder for this model. It is a typical CMOS battery (just the battery itself) wrapped in black (heat/shrink) wrap with two wires coming out of the battery (black and read) that connect to a plug of sorts which plugs into a spot underneath the keyboard in a most inconvenient and hard to reach place. The battery itself has a stick adhesive which they used to just plop it on a side of the computer.

Like this, (but not right model for my laptop):

I would ignore it, but I need to sell this laptop to help pay for funeral expenses (this was my uncles laptop and he passed away last year). So I need it to be in tippy top shape.

    Thanks for your answer btw.

I did not damage the battery, just the plastic male connector Illustrated in the link. My laptop has a different cmos battery arrangement then most:

Well I ended up buying it directly from sager and all is right in the world. The installation went very smoothly! Thanks for the ideas.
