I have a sager NP9261. Each time the computer boots, the dialog box saying eAccessViolation appears. On using Control paneland checking RealTek HD Sound, the manager comes up with the same dialog box.
What i've done to date:
1. Reinstalled the driver form both the updated online driver source and my original utilities disk. Result: same problem.
2. uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Result; same problem
3. Checked Windows sound features and made sure the sound selections are
activated. according to Windows, everything working right. But it isn't as teh box continues to appear at each boot up AND Avid Media Composer (recently installed) won't run since it can't access the video device--what ever that is.
My request: I want to know what is this eAccessViolation is all about, then maybe I can do something about it.

In desperation, I repeated an act. Though already having it from a previous download i downloaded first the zipped XP driver for my machine, put it into its own folder and attempted to install it. Couldn't do so as it reported some error I no longer recall. I then repeated another download, the .exe version of the same file. I clicked it as I had done in the past and as in the past it "installed" but this time the Realtek interface showed up. In a nutshell, Realtek HD is working again and Avid media Composer is happy with it. FYI, Avid is very snotty about what it will work with and won't work with so this is a huge plus. Hopefully, anyone else who has the same Realtek issue benefits from my haphazard solution. No, I have no idea why it suddenly worked unless the driver was an updated one addressing this issue. I'm grateful for even the simple request for my OS at this forum.
