Newbie alert; just saying. I'm not inept with computers and basic instructions though, so don't be too scared.

Does anyone know what BIOS the Sager NP9262 use, and do any of the new ones enable brightness control? I ask because I got mine early last year (february) and since then have lost a few keyboard keys to a spill... thus, I can no longer use Fn+F9 to increase my screen brightness. =|

In Windows Vista, right click the battery icon and click Windows Mobility Center, you can adjust the brightness from there.

you can control your brightness by clicking the Fn+F8 or Fn+F9 key to increase or decrease your brightness

... he can't use Fn+F9 because some of his keyboard keys no longer work.

unfortunately, I don't think the 9262 can use the nvidia settings/power settings, the 5796/8660 were the first clevos to have brightness accessible from windows :(

If you want a new keyboard, I have one for sale, £20 +postage to wherever in the world.

It can't; if I could have adjusted the brightness through the OS whatsoever I wouldn't have posted this thread. :\ I figured that maybe the 9262 had some BIOS updates since it came out, and maybe that one of those updates added that functionality.

I might take you up on the keyboard offer. It'll be about a week before I know, though.

I'll shoot you a PM later this week, when I know if I can actually spare the money. I'm in the US, NY specifically. :)

So, I figured out that the NP9262 is the Clevo D900C2 model - woo, I'm a genius! :p So, I restate my question - has there been any BIOS updates to it since it came out? If so, do they enable brightness control, and does anyone have them?

There have been plenty of updates, but none of them enable brightness control.

If you want to PM me, you'll have to make a few more posts...

    Ah, darn, that figures.

Why do I need a minimum post count to PM someone? :| Spam is that bad here?

It isn't now, I don't think, but having to make 15 (I think) posts to allow PMing isn't much of a price to pay to keep it that way ;)

If you do want the kbd, post back in this thread, and we can continue discussion by email.
