    Well, CS-ing with my 9262 yesterday and I was randomly "lagging" or "skipping". I wasn't sure what was going on. I thought it was something with my counter strike settings (crazy configs) so i researched today and found some interesting things. I reinstalled CS as well... re did some different configs... then bam... still the same thing... random lag spikes... and skipping

    It's similar to gls5000's problem

    ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=297223)

    but he is leaning towards a driver issue (maybe you should try this too gls!) I, on the other hand know it is my wireless card (well... a possibility) This is what I did.

    After reinstalling steam, I decided to play another fps game to make sure it ISNT just CS. So I played COD4, and BAM... same thing. Lag spikes... but not much of a skip/stutter (or so I couldn't tell) I had enough! So I decided to try it on one more online game I play... WoW. And... my ping is just generally high (dsl + my realm is east coast) that I was like... "I can't tell" I was watching my latency and it fluctuated from 239-285... which tbh... seems normal to me. So then I had this brilliant Idea! Turn of the wireless... and ETHERNET THIS THING! And so I did... and that is when I came to my conclusion

    After a good 2 hrs of CS-ing and 30-45 mins of COD4-ing... I did not have 1 stutter or one lag spike. So it must be the wireless card (nothing happening in the background either... at least from what I know... I don't have a virus-scan ware... yet >.<)!!! Well, it should be... BUT I am not 100% sure. why? well, I've never really tested the "wireless capabilities" of my DSL router... when I game, my PC is hooked up directly via ethernet... so I've never experienced this lag spike/stutter... not with cs and COD4. This is the first time that I am gaming un-connected with this verizon dsl of mine.

    Obviously plugging the ethernet solved the issue... so I had the same gameplay I had with my PC being hooked up, but what if something is up w/ my router as well? That can be another culprit right? Or can I safely say something is up w/ my wireless card (Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN model btw) and might need a new one or re install the drivers? Before I get into all that, I jsut want to make sure it isn't my router. Don't know if there are tests out there I can do to prove that my router is healthy. I only thought of one way I can test this, and that is by going to another wi-fi router/provider... and checking out the games then (starbucks here I come!)

    But of course I am seeking for input. I am on the right track right? I can't just point fingers immediately because even though the evidence proves that the card can be "bleh" at the same time, my router can be bleh as well. Any other ideas out there where I can verify if it is my card or router? Any help will do. Anyways... I'll keep you guys posted

    Time to dl 3dmark and benchmark!

    well... I did 2 things... went to a coffee place... and it was the same thing... a bit worst actually.... spikes were longer and a tad bit more frequent...

    when I got back home, I installed CS on my toshiba (vista 32 bit) hoping it would be a vista issue. Did a test... and... well... I get random spikes... but nothing like the sager. and It's shorter so I really didn't see a change on ping. With the 9262, I can see my ping jump. I only played on 1 server... but I'm convinced that something is up w/ this laptop >.<

    Read some info on some WLAN optimizers? Gonna try that... *sigh*... I'll have to come up w/ a fix or conclusion b4 monday so I can take it to sager if it needs some work

    the day ends and still no luck...

    I even updated the wifi's driver... and still no dice.

    Still need to try the WLAN optimizer... *sigh*

    Tomorrow is another day

    There are wireless optimizations for Intel modules... I think I told you to make sure that the wireless transmit is set to full/max performance.... rather than set onto power saving.

    Another thing you should look at, is the wires on the wireless module.
    - I have seen a few people that said that their wires were loose and needed to be reconnected securely.

    hey gophn,

    I did see you tell me to put it to max performance... i replied back with this:

    Hmmmm... currently in properties (went through device manager):

    General, Advanced, Driver, Details, Resources, and Power Management

    I'm guessing its in advance?

    Clicked on the tab... I see Property and Value

    802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4
    Value: 20 MHZ (auto other option)
    802.11n channel width for band 5.2
    Value: Auto (20mhz other option)
    802.11n mode
    Value: enabled (disable other option)
    Ad Hoc Channel 801.11 b/g
    Value: 11 (enter value option)
    Ad Hoc Default Wireless Mode
    Value: 0.802.11 b/g (only option)
    Ad Hoc Power Management
    Value: disabled (maximum power savings and noisy environment other options)
    Ad Hoc Qos Mode
    Value: WMM Disabled (WMM enabled other option)
    Fat Channel Intolerant
    Value: Disabled (enabled other option)
    Mixed Mode Protection
    Value: CTS-to-self Enabled (RTS/CTS Enabled other option)
    Roaming Aggresiveness
    Value: 3. Medium (lowest, medium/low, medium/high, and highest other options)
    Throughout Enhancement
    Value: Disabled (enabled other option)
    Transmit Power
    Value: Highest (lowest, medium/low, medium, and medium/high other options)
    Wireless Mode
    Value: 802.11a/b/g (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11b/g, and 802.11a/g other options)

    So... where is "Maximum"? Or is it already set to maximum? *sigh*

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I did A LOT of reading yesterday and I feel like I had found the issue (or so I hope) It seems that MS has this thing that looks for other networks automatically? WLAN autoconfig? seems that this causes lag spikes and stutters. Well, with XP you can turn it off... you can to with VISTA.... except you loose your wireless connection, till this day (or so I think) there has not been a fix yet. There are these things called WLAN Optimizers that helps... but doesnt work for all. I got tired yesterday so wasn't able to read further.... today is another day... and I hope to fix it.
    If you can gophn let me know where this "maximum" setting is at. I also checked out
    ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=297223) where someone suggested ip assigning... I lost my internet when I did that :( maybe I just did it wrong. Then he also suggested setting it to full duplex? He was also in the "advanced" tab and was saying to put something in 100mpbs which i couldn't find.
    I guess I can check out the wires... but I would have no idea what to look for when I open her up >.< I'll have to search the web for a pic then...
    change the Wireless mode to "Wireless-G 802.11g"
    then maybe enable "Throughout Enhancement"
