So I posted a thread last week about it possibly over heating 'cause it beeped at me and I didn't know why... I just got the CPU temp monitor running, aaaand when I'm doing my normal work, the CPUs stay at a sweet 38-42C... but when I'm rendering, they shoot up to about 71C... is it just me, or is that ridiculous?
Also, the 1st CPU stays about 3-6 degrees higher than the other ones... is that normal? The load on all of them is a constant 100% so I thought they'd be even...

I'll try the Fn+1 (all fans set to high) and render again, I'll let you know what the temps are then...

Ok with all fans on, all CPUs being pushed to 100% for 10 min straight, CPU1 stays at 66C... the others are 60-63C... not as bad, but still hot, no?

So let me sum this up:

    CPU TEMP:
    Idle, fans on: 35-39C
    Idle, fans off: 38-42C
    RENDERING, fans on: 60-66C
    RENDERING, fans off: 68-72C

    GPU temp:
    Idle, fans on: 35C
    Idle, fans off: 39C
    RENDERING, fans on: 42C
    RENDERING, fans off: 53C

Should I get a cooling pad for it? Is there a problem with these numbers?

    That temp seems fine.

But I recommend to use the Fan Toggle (Fn+1) when you are rendering.

And use a notebook cooler, like Zalman ZM-NC2000... top help with the temps even more. :)

    >.> its a desktop cpu, shouldn't be expecting mobile cpu temps.

I'd also recommend the LapCool 4 as well as the Zalman (both are superb!). The LC4 pushes air INTO the laptop, too, so if your workstation is clean and fairly dust free, it's a nice variant on what many other coolers do. The big plus of the Zalman is it's bigger and has aluminum....just another option is all!

    pat!

Oh really? See I don't know much about what temps are good or not... I figured that was pretty damn hot but that's good to know! My company said to pick out a cooler so I'll look into what you guys recommended, thanks guys!
+ I love this laptop... so frickin fast :D
