Just got my new Sager NP9370 two days ago. Held off getting a new laptop for 3 years since I was getting plenty of use and satisfaction out of my G73JH, (I'll miss you old friend.....) but,

the only problem I'm having with this awesome machine is the friggin touchpad. I am having to disable the mouse pad over and over from the control console, (FN-ESC) . Since I use wireless mouse I have no need for the touch pad. I liked that my ASUS had the option to disable the touchpad in bios, but this Sager does not have that option, only in windows through the console. It will stay off for a few min but if I touch the pad while typing it will randomly turn back on.

Other than this very annoying problem I am loving this laptop. Any help on disabling this darn thing would be greatly appreciated.

If you wanted to take the time to take off the front cover you could always disconnect the touchpad entirely if you rarely ever use it.

I purchased this through xotic. Is this a common problem or maybe I'm not disabling correctly. Don't really want to have to do self repair just yet on a 48 hour old laptop.

Edit* Maybe a bios update for this that would fix?

It's not really a repair so much as disabling something that you personally don't use and is causing you trouble. I haven't heard of this turning on randomly, so that's a little weird to me, but I haven't used one of these units extensively so I may have just not noticed. My style of typing really doesn't come near to touching the touchpad either so maybe that was it. You could try to reinstall the touchpad drivers and see if that fixes the random re-enabling of the pad when you brush against it.

isnt it Fn + F1 to disable the touchpad or is it totally different on this model.
if it is above then you will need to do it everytime you reboot but it will stay off for the whole session.

It is on our Clevo units, but I'm not sure if Sager uses different mapping. If the firmware is different, it very well could be a different combination.

What I ended up doing is reverting to the hotkey drivers on the drivers disc it came with. I had initially used the updated drivers on sager's site. Guess the new ones have an issue with randomly turn pad back on. But yes I have to disable it every time i turn it on. Guess I can live with that as long as it stays off until next boot. The control center and FN+F1 does the same thing for disabling the mouse pad.

You can't disable it from within the Device Manager? It should be listed as a PS/2 mouse, under "Mice and other pointing devices". Right click and select "Disable".

Another option is to go through Synaptics and adjust the sensitivy and area of activity for the touchpad. I found that I kept brushing against the trackpad while typing on my NP9170 and engaging scrolling (apparently my hands are fat enough to register a two finger gesture lol). After shrinking the area of the trackpad I havent had any problems.

I do miss the recessed touchpad on my gateway though.
