Hi,
I'm facing a weird problem with my internet connectivity on my new Sager NP9390 I got from Xoticpc few months back. The internet connection would drop every 1-2 mins and reconnects back with lot of effort. This is not restricted to Wifi. This happens even with my Ethernet directly plugged-in.
Though the internet works for a while, when it disconnects, it disconnects all other users as well from the internet. I'm sure its not the router or modem issue because I have other devices connected to it without having any connectivity issue.
Another interesting fact is that it is able to withstand the internet connection for more time at my office wifi network (though its via 5GHz band). The connection speed at my office is more than 75Mbps but my laptop would drop down to less than 2Mbps while downloading some large files. I'm sure that the network is not jammed to speed down when downloading large files because, the speed is excellent with my other personal laptop at office.
I've gone through tonnes of troubleshooting videos and articles and had no luck.
So far, I have done the following:
- Modify the power plans for Network Adapters to "Maximum Performance" when plugged-in and battery.
- Tried disabling IPv6
- Tried disabling QoS in my router.
- Tried switching between b, g and n Wireless mode.
- Tried changing the Wireless transmission channels
- Tried updating the Wifi Adapter driver
- Tried removing all encryption from my Router.
- Disabling Firewall
- Changing the power management settings for Wifi from the Wifi -> Properties -> Power Management
- Resetting/Rebooting the router and modem
- Changing the DHCP settings
- Changing from dynamic IP to Static IP
- Disabling Antivirus
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks for your help in advance.

Sounds like you've done quite the trouble shooting. Which wireless card do you have?
You didnt list that you've done this so I do have to ask, have you tried reinstalling the drivers. If so have you tried to see if there were any updated one from Intel/Bigfoot depending on your wireless card. -

Let us know which wireless card you're working with, as there is one in particular that has developed a reputation for drops. -
I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1 to check if the problem goes away, but no luck. Also have the "inSSIDer" tool. The Signal reception is very good and shows that I'm connected to a network but it says "Limited Connectivity".
If there is something that is common to both WiFi and Ethernet, then I could think of Antivirus, Firwall or some PC settings. Could there be any settings that might have messed up which I need to Root-Cause? -
Wireless Card - Intel dual band AC 7260. -
Router Brand/Model?
At Home:
When you connect to the Ethernet are you turning off the AC 7260/wireless? Try this first if you haven't done it yet. This will separate wired and wireless. When you are wired (with wireless turned off on 9380) it kills the home router too, forcing a reset, sometimes forcing a reset? When you are wired and the 9380 (with wireless turned off) loses the Internet are all other devices losing the net too? The 9380 makes it the 6th device connected at once? All other devices are connected wirelessly?
At work:
Is it dropping the Internet completely or just slowing down? Is it killing the work router too, forcing resets, sometimes, always, never? You've only connected wirelessly at work?
Run Malwarebytes is Safe Mode. Check settings between the router's settings/firewall and other laptops to see that they are the same on the 9380. -
Finally resolved the issue for WiFi after 2 days of extreme troubleshooting. Will fix the Ethernet and update the thread again.
It was just slowing down the connection most of the time but the drop rate was little lesser than what used to happen at home. This gave me an idea to root-cause what is causing the slowing down of connection than dropping-off the connection. I started changing all the settings that would effect the speed, like Wireless mode, quality of Services, etc. Finally, QoS was the culprit. WMM was disabled in my laptop and was enabled on my router. Disabling the WMM in the router did not help much, since I was not able to connect back to the network after disabling the WMM in the router. This time I tried enabling WMM in my laptop. By default, it was disabled. I started seeing much more improvement in my network speed. To confirm the behavior, I restarted my laptop and tried downloading huge files (like Ubuntu OS image, etc just for testing purpose). The connectivity was stable for most of the time and couldn't believe that I finally resolved it. I did a lot of stress test on the network with my laptop for 3 days before posting this. Now I'm getting a consistent ~15Mbps throughput at my home for most of the time. (btw, I have a 15Mbps plan)
I have seen in couple of articles and troubeshooting videos that "Disabling WMM" would boost the internet connectivity speed; but in my case it was just the opposite. I'll try to do a little more research on this and will update the thread.
Appreciate everyone's involvement and help in speeding up my process. I'd try to make a video tutorial on every single thing I have tried get this issue resolved so that it helps someone someday -

Ah, I suspected the 7260 AC. Glad you got it resolved on your end.

Is that the one that developed the reputation for drops you hinted at? I haven't read anything about it as it's so new. I have read a few threads here about the Killer's issues.
