Is it true that once the battery is FULLY CHARGED and that if you continue to charge it, the battery's maximum span will be decreased?

Wont the battery like 'auto-disconnect' and switch to just power supply after the battery has been charged to 100% or something?

The battery won't be overcharged, so don't worry about that. If you are going to leave it plugged in most of the time, I would advise taking out the battery, that will extend its lifespan. There's always a trickle of current going into the battery.

Well, its quite troublesome to take out the battery 1stly (Screws and all instead of SLOT) and 2ndly, if I did take it out, that part of my laptop will be hollow and my laptop FAN system and the computer 'balls' will just BLUDGE in filling up that space which will ultimately lead to my laptop having an uneven positioning.

Because of this reason, I have been switching on/off my power supply.
WHenever the battery is fully charged, i switch it off and when it needs charging, I switch it on. SO that's why i ask if the batter will like 'auto-disconnect' and switch to just power supply after it had been charged to 100%.

    Any ideas?

Yes, the battery contains an electronic chip that prevents overcharging. This chip is found in most batteries that experience frequent dis- and re-charging, such as laptops, cell phones, etc.

Chaz is correct (as usual) in that, if you almost never unplug it and it's easy to remove, you should remove the battery to extend its life. However, thanks to the electronic monitoring chip, you'll be OK to leave it plugged in all the time. So stop worrying! :)

Oh, so its alright to just leave it running?
yeah thanks, cause it costs like a BOMB to buy a new battery TT.

    But thanks guys~
Weird though, I never read anything about the chip in a battery that prevents over-charging. HAs it just been recently implemented? And is it implemented on ths battery system of Sager NP9750V?

Yeah, it's fine to leave it running.

You only have to run down your battey every two weeks or so to keep it conditioned.

It's not good to keep running down an Li-Ion battery time after time. Just leave it in, run it down once a month, you'll be perfectly fine.

So, just use the battery every once a month (Run it from 100% to 0%) after which I charged it again to 100% from the adaptor?

    Okay, thanks ^_^

Yes, that's all you have to do. It helps keep the battery conditioned.

Oh, if I shut it down, do I need to switch off the AC power?
Or do I just leave it on?

Just leave it on, its fine. Your battery does not have an infinite life, expect around 1 to 1 1/2 yrs and then you'll need to replace it. This applies to all brands.

I've read where you can extend the battery to it's fullest potential by leaving the machine unplugged, running near the point where it auto-shuts down, then boot to the bios screen, and let it drain completely. Not sure if this truly makes a difference, but it will ensure a complete discharge of the battery.
