Wow thats a decent price for the stock config .
-
Thats actually a pretty nice looking Sager, and the price beats the M17x by a couple hundred.
But the M17x has some things going for it,
Better looks (imo), not a fingerprint magnet
16:10 Screen
Better cooling solution (guessing from pics, time will tell)
Overclocking ability, does Sager allow it this go round? -
Am I the only one who thinks that it reeks of shexiness? Better looking than the M17x, I think. Only thing missing though is the backlit keyboard...
I'm praying that the LED colors are customizeable. Would look killer in red. -
A little outside my price range, figuring you need more than the stock 2.5GHz to pump data to those two cards fast enough. X9100 or QX9300 if you are running SLi.
But then again, it is quite a tempting machine. Thanks Clevo for making a machine thats decent to look at! -

I think I'm going to hold out till the next platform comes out, I can max all my games now, but the grass is always greener
Maybe in 6 months my 1730 will breakdown and I'll get a m17x replacement, when I saw that happen for someone I pulled my sale down -

oh damn thats nice.... plus tons of interior space for cooling. plus you can get a single 280M which drops the price by $400
-
I want to see some laptop pr0n :/
I'm really curious how this handles the heat (as well as it's competitor, the M17x) -
I think heat will be no problem in that massive machine...
-
I like the idea of an 18.4 screen but this price for a polycarbonate chassis with this mirror finish even in the palm rest is overpriced (well... not really "overpriced" but i don't think it worth) IMHO
Looks like alienware wins this round -
Wow... Making the same configuration for both machines reveals that the m17x is actually cheaper. Even with alienware's crappy customer service, it would be hard for me to choose Clevo over Alienware...
EDIT: Actually, for low end config (P8700, 320 Gb, 4 gb ram, 1920X1200, SLI 280 gtx), the Clevo is cheaper. -

the alienware looks alot better in overall but i like the sager's lid. the one the notecheck review had the logo 'style note' which looks so good. but i would choose the sager on the aleinware because it has a 3rd hdd slot UNLESS aleinware has better cooling.
-
Lovin the lid. Much better than previous models. Also lovin the triple hdd.
-
-
. But i can't take polycarbonate over aluminum no way lol
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well i had a ocz whitwbook before so i'm used to my fingerprint being known to the public. it'll be one of the crome files on tv. 'the criminal and the notebook which assissted us in catching him.'
but no i prefer more hdd then ram. there was a review about how much ram affects gaming and they used a corei7 and some other components which was tested with 3,6,9,12 gb of ram and there was no difference what so ever barely a frame per second even at high res.
the only thing was power issued as using more ram greatly affected the amount of power the computer drawn.
so i'm good with 4gb until games are optimized for more. -
Base Sager NP9850 = $2511.33
M17x w/ Same Specs = $2674.00 before tax
I would go with an M17x anyway though, looks like they wasted a lot of space on the keyboard layout.

My concern in 8gb have nothing with games -
2x 500GB 7200 RPM
1920x1200 (in M17x)
Clevo M980NU @ Gentech
Total: $2,882.00
Alienware M17x
Starting Price $2,899
And in the M17x u r paying for windows -
I was talking about a base model SLI Sager vs M17x with matching specs.
Sager NP9850----Alienware M17x
1920x1080p------1920x1200p
P8700 2.53-------P8700 2.53
SLI 280m---------SLI 280m
4gb 1333---------4gb 1333
320gb 7.2k-------320gb 7.2k
Vista x64---------Vista x64
$2511.33--------$2674.00+tax -
Looks like the LED colors are customizeable. Oh heck yeeeah. -
.
$2,882 for the clevo is without windows and it costs $95 for the HP edition.
Aluminum case + better design + lots of fancy leds + better keyboard and cheaper, dell did a really good job in the M17x price lol.
But i still miss 18.4 and fngerprint reader -
Why didn't they use i7 965 though?isn't it more powerful than QX9300?
-
-
It's thicker than I thought.

Is that hard to make good SIMPLY keyboards?, G19 have a color LCD where you can watch youtube! (one million dollars question: who is going to watch youtube while play? [specially because you CAN'T use search]), and u need a ac adapter to get this thing to work!.
I miss my logitech elite keyboard... Technology is getting so useless those days lol.
-
With all the other LEDs on the machine i wonder why they didnt opt for a backlit keyboard ? .
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i was thinking the same thing. i thought that was foolish. at least one color would be nice instead of none. but i wonder if there were on a keyboard budget

Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
What are gaming keys for anyway? Do they have any other practical uses? Too bad they don't give you an option of keyboards...seems like so much wasted space.
But the computer despite its flaws is sexy. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i love the lid. omg look at it. if you having look at it before look at it again.
but as for the gaming keys. when i get home i will test my buttons out and see if you caan change then. if so then yeah.
for me though when i first saw the sager np9262 and the two buttons. i said wow i want it and thanks so unfear that other companies don't do this. but now i have it and i pressed it once and it was because i always wanted to do it. i have yet to use it. so thats just a unless feature to me. -
The keyboard is of odd design choice as those keys are honestly all but useless TBH . I have had keyboards with similar functionality and never once did i use them ,not to mention the fact that the keyboard itself is shifted over 2 or more inches to the right and just looks plain uncomfortable to type on .
You are right in that its to bad they dont offer 2 keyboard choices , i would prefer a standard keyboard without the chiclet keys and in the center of the machine . -
