    Sager Notebook Models Guide
    By: Chaz
I recommend reading Sager’s company profile to get better acquainted with the company.

    Desktop Replacement/Portable Desktop (17” to 20") series:

    -NP9260
    -NP5960
    -NP9750
    -NP5760
    -NP5750
    -NP9890

    *NP9260
The Sager NP9260 is Sager's latest and greatest notebook. It is based on the Clevo D900C, which is discussed here. It is the world's most powerful notebook for a reason; desktop Core 2 Duo processors, up to two Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX 512MB graphics cards, up to three hard drives (RAID 0,1,5 available), and a high resolution 17" display.
    Specifications
    [IMG]

    *NP5960
The Sager NP5950 features a unique technology in notebooks: dual-graphics cards via Nvidia SLI technology. The NP5960 up to two Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX video cards, each with 512MB of fast dedicated GDDR3 memory. There are also options for workstation-class QuadroFX Go2500M video cards, which also have 512MB of memory each.
Processing power is provided by the dual-core AMD Turion 64 X2.
The screen on the NP5960 is the largest available on a notebook - 20.1" with a WSXGA+ resolution.
    Specifications
    [IMG]

    *NP9750
Featuring Athlon 64 processors – single- or dual-core Athlon 64 FX series and X2's, the NP9750 is a “true” desktop replacement. It is not a travel-friendly machine with a weight of 12.5 lbs, but is easier to carry than a small form factor desktop.
This is one of the highest-performing notebooks available on the market, and anything short of a high-end desktop will not match it in terms of overall performance.
The NP9750 comes standard with an Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX 512MB video card.
    Specifications - Review by Albsterama
    [IMG]

    *NP5760
The Sager NP-5760 is Sager's high-end 17" gaming notebook, in a thinner and lighter form factor than the NP9750, and with a much sleeker design. The NP5760 comes standard with Intel's latest Core 2 Duo processor, a 512MB Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX, DDR2-667 RAM and a Serial ATA hard drive. The NP5760 is a better alternative to the Dell XPS M1710 feature for feature, and is much less, even when equipped with more powerful components.
    Specifications
    [IMG]

    *NP5750
The NP5750 is Sager's value 17" model, designed for the person who would like a 17" display, but does not need the fast 3D performance of the NP5760. It is identical in terms of design and quality, with the only real difference being the graphics card - the NP5750 uses a 128MB dedicated X1600 vs. the Go7950GTX in the 5760.
    Specifications

    *NP9890
The NP9890 is a large desktop replacement notebook with the same chassis and design as the NP9750; the only differences are internal. The NP9890 uses an Intel Pentium 4 processor, DDR2 memory, and an Intel 915PM chipset. I highly recommend the NP9750 over the NP9890 because of its Athlon X2 processor, which is far faster than the Pentium 4, especially for multitasking. In addition, it runs cooler, is about the same price, and gets longer battery life.
The standard GPU on the NP9890 is the 256MB Nvidia Go7800GTX; an upgrade to the 512MB Go7900GTX is available.
    Specifications
    [IMG]

    Midrange Gaming Notebooks

    -NP2080
    -NP2030

    *NP2080

The Sager NP2080 is based on the popular Compal HEL80 chassis. It features solid build quality and a unique design, differentiating it from mainstream machines. The NP2080 is based on Intel's Centrino Duo platform - an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Intel 945PM chipset, and Intel 3945ABG wireless card are standard equipment. Graphical power is provided by Nvidia's GeForce Go7600 graphics card with 256MB of memory. Battery life is well above average for a gaming notebook; up to four hours thanks to its extended 9-cell battery.
Screen options include a glossy WXGA display as standard, with a matte WSXGA+ screen available as an upgrade.

    *NP2030

The NP2030 is a 14" gaming notebook based on the Compal HGL30 chassis. It features essentially the same specifications the NP2080 listed above, yet comes in a smaller chassis. Featuring a powerful Nvidia GeForce Go7600 graphics card, it makes an ideal portable gaming companion.

    Mainstream and Ultraportable Notebooks

    -NP6650
    -NP6260

    *NP6650

The Sager NP6650 is Sager's 15.4" notebook targeted at the mainstream. It is not designed for the gamer, but rather for the consumer seeking something better than what the mainstream has to offer. The NP6650 features a dual core Intel processor, dual-channel DDR2 memory, and an ExpressCard slot. Multimedia features include a built-in 1.3MP video camera. Although the NP6650 is not a gamers machine, it still offers respectable system performance and makes for an ideal multimedia companion. Since it starts at only $599, it is directly competitive with mainstream machines made by HP, Toshiba, and Dell.
    Specifications - Review by WashWest
    [IMG]

    *NP6260
The NP6260 is Sager's first ultraportable. It features a 12" screen and weighs a mere 2.8 lbs thanks to a magnesium alloy chassis. And unlike many other ultraportables, it features a built-in optical drive. Processing power is provided by an Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.2GHz) ultra low-voltage CPU. 512MB of DDR2 RAM is standard; expandable to 1.5GB. Other standard features include a 4-in-1 media reader, TPM (Trusted Platform Module), and fingerprint reader. The NP6260 is available in both silver and white colors.

June 1st - the Sager NP5320 has been removed from Sager's website and resellers - removed from the guide as well. A shame there won't be an update to it.

June 9th - I added Sager's newly released the new 15.4" NP6630 to the guide. It looks like a very solid mainstream notebook with a lot of rare features. Starts at only $1,069 as well, cheaper if you go through a dealer.

the 6630 looks ace. Could have been the ideal successor for the 5320, but Clevo seemed to have designed it with business users in mind. However, a DVI port should be a minimum these days. The inclusion of a serial port is great news for people working with circuits, etc. Plump in a dedicated GPU, dvi, high-res screen and could have been the perfect mid-sized gaming laptop. Why clevo, why? Moreso, since looking at the pictures it seems to be loosely based on the 5320 shape/style.

June 10th - Sager has another new model up today, the NP5460, which is an update to the 5420. It features an Intel Core Duo processor and a 14" glossy display.

    Chaz

    Edit: Another update today:
Sager removed the NP5580 (15") from their website, guide updated to reflect changes. Looks like the NP6630 replaced it. I also no longer have the NP3380 in my guide - I removed that a few weeks ago when it didn't show up on their site. I'm assuming that will be gone soon, I thought that would have gone first and then the 5320, but I guess not.

    Chaz,

Whos the ODM of that NP6260 notebook, i tried looking it up, but couldnt find that model from UniWill, Mitac, MSI, Asus, Clevo.

Could it be a Compal or Quanta??

Its not that important to know, but I'm always curious about the ODMs.

I'm not really sure either. Definitely doesn't look like a Clevo, and if it is . .well, I like the direction they're giong. Perhaps Goren knows - he's the ODM gearhead. Or maybe Donald would tell us. ;)

    Sager = Clevo...always!

One deviation here is that Clevo is making this 12.1" model for a major international brand for the Japanese market. Sager liked it too, so Heeeeere it is!

This is a Clevo M62 notebook. You can get the barebones through www.rjtech.com

    Link to Clevo M62 Barebones

    $1,249.00
    Includes:
    White or Silver case color
    Core Solo U1400 1.2ghz
    512mb DDR2 533
    8x DVD Writer
    4-cell Battery
    and Carrying Case
    NO Harddrive
    NO Wireless LAN module
    NO Operating System

This is only a good option if you already have a PATA hard drive and a miniPCIe wireless module (from another notebook or something). OS is subjective, everyones got their own flavor that they would prefer... Windows, Linux, etc.

The fully configured system (through Sager or DiscountLaptops) with all the components (40gb HDD, Intel 3945ABG wifi card, and WinXP Home) is about $1400, so that would be a better (and much simpler) choice if you want this system.

You're right, good catch and thanks for pointing it out. If I had to take a guess, Sager is dumping their stock of Go7900GTX cards on the NP9890. I don't think they are selling a lot of those notebooks, considering they have hot and outdated Pentium 4s.

What would I buy a SAGER NP9260 instead of a CLEVO D900C? Is it because the extra warranty, the service or some extra gadgets ?

CLEVO is not a brand, it is the Original Design Manufacturer. Their model number is D900C. All they build is the barebones shell.

Sager is a brand for the OEM whose model name for the Clevo D900C is the NP9260. Sager takes the Clevo D900C barebones shell and adds the components to make it a working laptop.

When you buy a Sager NP9260 you ARE buying a Clevo D900C barebones shell.

So, why buy a Sager NP9620 instead of buying a Clevo D900C from some other OEM? Easy. Sager is the oldest and largest OEM for Clevo barebones shells in the US, and except for Alienware all other OEMs in the US buy their Clevo shells from Sager.

Everybody had "truly" Clevo units. RJTech just doesn't brand them. RJTech buys their barebones from Sager, but since Sager doesn't build them RJTech can't use the Sager brand.

Why does it matter? Clevo manufactures all the machine "shells." I'm not sure what the concern is whether it shipped directly from Clevo, or via one of its OEM / resellers, namely Sager.

In North America, there are about a handful of "TRUE" Clevo distributors, the main ones are:
    - Sager (probably the largest distributor)
    - Pro-Star/M-Tech
    - Eurocom

These guys provide most of the Clevo barebones to everyone else. The pricing is pretty much baseline and standard. The OEM/reseller then builds the notebooks and does customizations (stickers, paint job, etc..) and charges whatever they want.

RJtech is more well-known for not doing any extra frills and sell the units as if it were shipped directly from Clevo [or other ODM notebooks], which saves the consumer some money, especially if they just want a "white box" [or non-branded] notebook.

That was the main reason I built my notebook... that and I could not afford a fully configured unit at once [bought the barebones first, then the standard parts later].

Just remember to order the barebones with the following:
    - your choice of LCD panel
    - your choice of videocard
    - Optical Drive
    - Wi-fi Card, since they are not worth looking elsewhere (similar pricing)
    - (optional) TV Tuner w/ Remote
    - (optional) Bluetooth internal adapter

    The rest are standardized parts:
    - CPU
    - RAM
    - HDD
    - Wi-Fi Card

Just had to tell that i pre-ordered the NP9260.

    I took this configuration:
NP9260V - 17.0" WIDE VIEWING ANGLES WSXGA+ ACTIVE MATRIX LCD DISPLAY WITH SUPER CLEAR GLOSSY SURFACE NOTEBOOK COMPUTER

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6600 / 4MB L2 Cache, 2.4 GHz, 1066MHz FSB

Dual Nvidia GeForce GO 7950 GTX MXM IV Graphics Module with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory in SLI mode

    2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 X 1024MB

    120.0GB (SATA 5400rpm) SATA 150 Hard Drive

No i didn't have any more money for a second hard drive... or a better primary one. But i got an external one so it doesn't matter.

ANYONE else pre-ordered? If so, what configuration? ^^

As soon as i get it i will let you guys know my opinion about the laptop.

Hey Moobke, congrats on the order!

I'm waiting to see how the testing turns out with the core 2 quad processors, but I'm planning to order this beast soon after.

    17" WUXGA+
Core 2 Extreme or Core 2 Quad Processor
Single NVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX (will probably go for a DX10 card when it comes out)
    2GB PC800 DDR2 RAM
    160GB 7200 RPM HDD
    8x DVD+/-RW (may upgrade to Blu-Ray later)
    Bluetooth
    Wi-fi
    XP Pro

Good luck with your order; hope it's every bit as awesome as you expect!
