Although I just posted today on another thread that Sager is going to have a Glossy for the WSXGA+, We have just been updated that the WSXGA+ is going to be Matte on the NP2090. :D

There was a shortage on Glossy Displays from Compal so they switched it to the Matte for the time being. This will be the same on the regular Compal IFL90 also.

Does this mean that all current orders for the glossy WSXGA+ will be changed to Matte? Will the orders currently specified with glossy screens have to wait?

I'd actually like a Matte screen.

The WXGA should come first right? No shortages on those?

Yes they will be switched over to the Matte. There is no ETA on when the Glossy WSXGA+ will arrive or if it will be. We will notify all of our customers of this change via telephone/email.

EDIT: The WXGA will be first and there are no changes with this model. There is limited supplies of the WXGA and WSXGA with the heavy demand for them now.

Actually all of our customers will be given the choice of switching to the Matte screen, or waiting for the glossy screen, or receiving a refund.

The bad news is at this time we do not know how long that wait might be. Dare I say it...it is even possible that this will be a permanent specification change, we will just have to be patient and wait to see exactly what Compal does.

Is there an advantage to the glossy screen?

Your right Donald, I spoke to soon ;) There will be glossy available in the WSXGA+ model but at a much later date.

The WSXGA+ Matte is easier to use for extended times and doesn't produce a glare on the display like the Glare Type Displays do. Where do you use your machine the most? (For example, if you are outside allot with your laptop you would want the Matte, to reduce any kind of reflection or glare in the display)

The WXGA will come in at the same time as the WSXGA+ and they will be glossy. They too will be in limited supply at first, but there should be plenty of them after the initial pre-orders are filled.
