Hey everyone I have a sager np7358 and I'm having a little issue, I'm trying to game and I just noticed since I haven't been using it for a bit. Its not using my nvidia gtx 860m graphics card, the settings are set for my games to use my dedi card.
I have it forced set in the control panel also and still its not using it, how I know this is by looking at the nvidia gpu activity anything I play doesn't come up like WoW, Watch dogs, Dolphin Emu(I own the games I am playing I just prefer to use it in HD on my laptop.) Those are the only games I noticed it on, as of yesterday I noticed it. WoW is jumpy and laggy on high settings. Watch dogs is super low fps and Dolphin emu is not running how it should be. I should be able to handle all these without a issue. I ran all these fine on my old laptop and recently on this one to.
I'm running Windows 7 if that helps at all?

Do you have the drivers installed for it?
Also, get MSI Afterburner, and see the GPU usage percentage while playing to see if it's working.

Try drilling down to the actual executable in explorer, right click and specify 'run with high end graphic'.

See if you can force-launch it with the high end graphics and go from there.

Never heard of it happening, but I guess it could be possible your nvidia properties got corrupted somehow. Reaching at straws though, but that's only if the above works but clicking normally does not.

Did that for watch dogs and nothing, WoW is running back with my nvidia card but some stuff don't run and some stuff do run with my nvidia card. They are all being forced to use it and I have done the above also. On top of that I'm monitoring it with the nivida inspecter tool and it shows 0 gpu work and the nvidia gpu activity shows no programs using it.

The only thing I can think maybe the issues is a month or so ago I was trying to run Final fantasy 7 with some mods and it would keep crashing due to nvidia but there was a fix I had to replace a file and rename another with a _ infront of it maybe. Sadly I can't remember what I changed and renamed.
I was thinking my only option if this problem goes on is to reinstall windows and all my drivers. I already removed the nvidia off my device manager and uninstalled the driver and reinstalled both.

There could be a chance it is also corrupt, 2 months ago my girlfriends little brother was my laptop to download some stuff for call of duty (torrents) and a week later I spent a whole day trying to clean and get rid of malware/trojans etc.. on my laptop. And it was infecting many things so it is possible it infected something nvidia and the programs I ran deleted the whole whole thing due to it being infected.

I know some programs still won't switch with Optimus properly, which is why I dislike Optimus laptops. But Watch Dogs should be working. I know battle.net and WoW has issues though.

Wish I could offer some help but I've never owned an optimus laptop (and probably never will) so just hope things work out for you!

Thanks man, I know watch dogs should work. I've played it before on this laptop and on my old asus with a gtx 750 and optimus and never had issues. Might be some corruption issues like ashen said which I wouldn't be surprised. Just don't see how they would exist after reinstalling the drivers.

Which Nvidia drivers are you using. Try the stock ones from the drivers disc to see if you get better results.

It's not uncommon at all. If your drivers are corrupted, the only way to get them out usually would be a proper clean install. The best way to do this is to keep them not-running and do a clean install; which usually means doing a clean install from safe mode. Or you could go to safe mode and use a driver-sweeper-type program to remove everything nVidia from your PC then install fresh.

In this case, it won't work for him so well, as Watch Dogs is so ridiculously unoptimized that new drivers are almost necessary for smooth playing of that title. The rest of his games should work pretty okay though. If he tries the clean install method like that though, it should rule out anything to do with nVidia drivers itself.

run one of the futuremark benchmarks in my sig below 3dmark or 3dmark11 and compare to others with the same hardware as you.
if yours is wayyyy down then it could be faulty hardware.

you could also follow the safemode walkthrough for clean nvidia drivers in other sig below.

Well I tried to partition my hard drive, well use some of my free space to dual boot windows using aosami or something like that? That messed me up for hours, does process stopped half way and then I couldn't boot pass the windows screen it would says windows is starting than a bsod for about 1 second and restart and loop so I spent a couple hours trying to fix it with cmd and start up repair and recovery both didn't work. Ended up messing my OS up with cmd accidently typed format since I thought I had to tell cmd what volume/drive to format which wasn't the case so I shut down my laptop and wouldn't boot pass the sager splash screen and would say missing OS. So I fired up my windows 8 usb and custom installed it which left windows.old thankfully so I didn't lose any of my files. But now with a clean install of windows 8 and all the drivers everything is working how it should be nvidia wise. Dolphin is using it, watch dogs is fine and I haven't tested anything else but the two things that wouldn't work. So I'm going to assume there was some corruption issues with my drivers on windows 7.

Well good for you OP. If you keep using Win 8, I suggest StartIsBack or Stardock Start 8 to get nice start menu, boot-to-desktop functionality etc. Enjoy =3
