I just bought a used Sager P150HM and used the microsoft media creation tool to install windows 10. I'm sure that I chose the 64bit version, but upon installation the computer reports it as a 32bit operating system (the cpu is 64bit architecture. Windows 10 is not activated yet.

Also, the computer reports that 16GB of ram is installed but only 3.15GB is available. What is going on?

You might want to hang me for saying this, but it's sounding an awful lot like you did, in fact, install a 32-bit version of the OS. Can you remake your installation media (to be thorough) and take another crack at installing?

I have already decided to reinstall windows again just to make sure (but I'm away from the computer at the moment). I was 100% sure I downloaded the 64bit version the first time, but it wouldn't be the first time I'm being an idiot...

Going off memory: I believe the Windows 10 install process allows you to choose the edition and architecture when you choose your language at the beginning of setup. Could have been a blunder there. Keep us posted!

Well I'm an idiot. I could have sworn I chose th 64bit edition, but I just did another clean install and all is wel (64bit, 16GB RAM). The only thing I can think of is that previously I was using an older version of the media creation tool that I had downloaded months ago. When I downloaded a fresh copy the install options were slightly different.

No worries! The setup has changed slightly as the build has evolved. Glad to hear you're on the right path now.
