Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the proper pronunciation of Sager.

I know the rule in English is that when a C or G precedes an A, O, or U, it's a hard G or C but when it precedes an E, I, or Y, it's a soft G or C. However, I know the sportscaster Craig Sager pronounces his name with a hard G.

I've heard Sager been pronounced with both a hard and soft G when referring to the computer company in YouTube videos and I was wondering if anyone knows the correct pronunciation of Sager when referring to the computer company. Figuring out the pronunciation of Asus was a complete nightmare though I think this will be a bit easier. Thanks :)

It's based on the word Sage, so it sounds like Say-jer.

Too bad Clevo doesn't have codenames, like how the HP/Wistron 8530w is actually the "Artemis" :D

I pronounce it as SAH-GUR. That's just my personal preference. I'm sure I'd look silly if I said it like that if calling a reseller for help with one though.

No one really knows, to be honest. The proper pronunciation was lost several thousand years ago. Many earnest attempts have been made to reconstruct the phonetics, but none have been successful. The only textual records that remain were derived from a religious tome unearthed in 1921 in a Summerian sacrificial complex (present day Tikrit).

In any case, uttering the true pronunciation is said to awaken the old gods and unspeakable evil, so it's probably better we end this thread here.

If that brings about a final-fantasy-type world where we could go hunt monsters for Gil and "dead" people can come back to life with phoenix downs that we can buy with said gil, let's do it. I wanna use magic.
