    All,

I am curious about Sager's resale value compared to other similarly equiped laptops. One might assume that better known brands such as Dell, etc, might have an edge since more people recognize the brand.

    Any thoughts or experiences here?

It depends on your config, and how old it is.
    Which is it?
usually laptops drop 500$ in price from each year,if they`re over 1500$ to start with...
Does it still have warranty ?

The laptop I am considering is the 5793 with T9300 and 8800GTX setup most people seem to recommend. I can post full specs if need be.

i personally thought most laptops depreciate ~25-33 percent per year the first couple of years. it used to be you could recover 70-80 percent of retail value on laptops even after a couple of years, a few years ago.

i haven't sold any laptops lately, but i would guess you could do better selling it on a website like this, where sager's value is more appreciated and well known, rather than mainstream public such as ebay.

I would consider trade-in value. Contact Sager and see what kind of trade-in policy they have, so when you are ready to retire your notebook you can simply send it in for a large discount off your next purchase. If taken good care of, I'm sure Sager would value their own machine much more than most people out there- unless you manage to sell it though a medium that appreciates the value of a boutique system (such as here).

i don't think sager does that. never heard mention of it. and if they do, i'd like to read about it, even though i'm not optimistic about it.

imo i have re-sold many laptops in the past and i have to say one downfall of buying a sager or any small lesser known brand is that they are not well known. so unless you can find someone who knows what they are buying then it is a very hard sell. i tried to sell my sager 5791 with 8700 and t7500 for much less than what it costs new and all i gte was wayyyyyyyyyyy lowballed offers, so i simply upgraded it with the x9000 and 8800.. maybe not the smartest thing $$$ wise but i knew my system and knew it was flawless.
