The new Sager NP 5792 has the option of two tv-tuners:

TVT-6010, USB ATSC HDTV / ANALOG TV TUNER
    and...
    TV-Tuner with MCE Remote Control

My question is, will either of these hook up to cable tv or is it local channels only? If any of you have one of these, I'd like to hear your view of them.

And on a different note, to those of you who have gotten a Sager recently, how long did it take to get? Thanks.

I have the TV tuner (MiniPCI) that came with my D901C. It works for OTA channels and for Cable. (Depending on what you hook it up to)

The question is your cable digital? Or is it analog? The internal minipci is only analog. (At least on my D901C's)

Hi Wu Jen, did you managed to get it working with the antena? I still have to try with cable.

I don't know if mine is digital or analog.

Lemme try to add my 2ยข from I what remember when I opt for the TV-tuner (that piece of crap) in my 5760.

At that time, the only option was a DVB / analog tv tuner. It can capture analog over the air signal, but here in Montreal, only one was strong enough. Analog cable was ok. Keep in mind that analog cable is about 320x240 resolution, so when maxed out on that georgous 1920x1200 screen, it looks awful. So I wouldn't buy it again.

As for digital over the air, DVB is the standard used in Europe and Asia. Yay for 100$ down the trash. The thing is you only know when you try to figure out why it doesn't work...

But as for your option, it offers ATSC HD digital signal, which is the standard adopted for North America. If there any digital broadcasters in your area, it could make a nice option.

And if there's an ATSC/analog card with Windows MCE take it. The software used for the other card (especially if it's from Lifeview) sucks.

Info on wikipedia about DVB and ATSC are interesting.

If you have room for the usb I would opt for it. The one offered previously is a decent card but the the newer one offers you more options and compatibility. Most (as previously stated) cable in the us is digital as well as Direct TV. Even if not you still have the analog compatibility.
