My laptop runs ~80 °C on the first core while the rest are in the mid-70s under load. The frequencies don't run at what they're rated at. They run at ~3000MHz under load (gaming). Aren't they supposed to run at 3.3GHz at the bare minimum? I disabled BD PROCHOT using ThrotttleStop to see if it was a throttling issue but no dice.
Is this how the laptop is supposed to run? I don't want to be missing any performance.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You are on power or on battery at that time? Power profile is balanced at least?

High performance and plugged in. I also made sure the power management was 100%.
Edit: The laptop runs at rated speeds on idle (~3.3-3,4GHz) but it runs at 3GHz when I play games which is unusual.Last edited: May 15, 2015 -
I did some searching and this problem appears to be some type of power throttling where the CPU reduces its multiplier to below stock values if the cores begin to consume the rated TDP.
Apparently, there's a feature in some BIOS that lets you disable it. It's called CPU TM Function.
Does anyone know what it's called in Prema Mod bios if it has the feature? -
Try undervolting the CPU using Intel XTU or increasing the current limit to CPU in the BIOS of Prema modded BIOS, this will help reduce current throttling. Also Balanced power profile helps reduce current throttling. This is what I have done and my 4710 runs at 3.5 ghz whilst gaming perfectly fine. It will probably still throttle if using stress test software such as Prime, or other multicore using software.

Yeah, I had to raise current limits to reach turbo frequencies without dropping during load but that increases temps drastically. I'm not comfortable with temps being 85+ on all 4 cores.
I feel betrayed since turbo frequencies are just there for show. You don't get to use it under load. -

As long as you aren't hitting 90+, its basically normal behavior. You can try a repaste but realistically, Haswell is just a furnace. The core will throttle at 95C to protect itself.
Also, try FN+1 to force max fans. Clevo fans are set to max out at 80% of their capability out of the box. -
i use -80mv on the Vcore and -100mv on other settings, although only the Vcore seems to make any impact on CPU temps realistically. I can also use the 2 extra turbo bins to get a make of 3.6 ghz on my 4710. Only when stressing multicores close to 100% does the core speed drop below the max 3.4ghz, roughly to 3.2ghz depending on how high the current limit is set in BIOS (not sure if u r able to set it in XTU without Prema mod). Before the Vcore undervolt it would throttle down to 2.7ghz or 2.8ghz. I now get an average 0f mid 60's core temp whilst gaming now I've repasted after a years use. Max temps would be mid 80's using stress test such as Prime95.
