So has anyone else been denied the carrying case advertised when ordering a Sager notebook? I just contacted my reseller representative, and they said that Sager said they're "completely out of bags, and won't be getting anymore in."
I seem to remember this being a bonus for ordering their product. I am currently in discussion with my reseller to see if some sort of equivalent compensation can be arranged. Between not receiving the carrying case I was promised, and this Enduro switchable graphics garbage, I am not entirely happy about my purchase. I am starting to wish I had gotten the Alienware, and just dropped down some of the extras.
To get back on topic: I am asking if anyone else didn't receive their carrying case, if they were advertised to come with one.
-
Sager itself stopped offering the case a couple of weeks ago.
Don't fret over it, though. The case wasn't that good to begin with. -
-
That's weird. I was actually worried about not getting a case either, but I ended up getting one with my order. Got it a week and a half ago.
-
I've had my laptop order placed since May 31. If you advertise an accessory, it should come with the order. I'm not asking for anything huge here, just something that says "Hey, you're right, we messed up. As a courtesy, let me get you a beer coozy, a T-Shirt, or a laptop skin to make it up to you."
On one end of the spectrum it's good customer service, on the other end it's simply refraining from committing false advertising. I honestly feel like I'm being more than reasonable about this.
I contacted my reseller and asked it Sager and Xotic PC could get together and arrange a laptop skin cut for this machine. Seems like a very inexpensive item, which can't possibly have much of an actual cost to the manufacturer. I would even apply it myself. That would make me a happy customer. -
Timbuk2. I say it everytime I read someone needing a case. Go with American made quality stuff.
-
They need to do something for you if it was advertised at time of purchase. Just saying we are out of stock and that is it is unacceptable. It would be reasonable for them to give you $20 refund or so, that you could use towards purchasing your own.
That being said, mine came with one and it isn't that great. It would be good if all I needed was my laptop and no accessories. My 6 year old targus backpack is much stronger and more protective and stores more. I have my laptop, power supply, g700 mouse, g13 game pad, xl mouse pad, spare lan cable, tool kit, and various other stuff in there no problem. The stock bag couldn't hold half of that. -
I also didnt get my advertised carrying case...but i asked Derek from XoticPC and he contacted sager and i got a tracking number the next day for it. It is really thin but its better then nothing

If it was advertised as being limited ("while supplies last"), then they have no obligation to give you one if they ran out. If not, then I would get them to send you a different laptop bag.
-
I know through xotic its not advertised as "limited"

Correct, it was not advertised as limited. It simply said Included.

You really don't want their case. All it does it take up space in your closet once you get it, because it is junk. I mean I guess it would work to store the laptop in, but I wouldn't travel with it. No padding to speak of, minimal room for gadgets and accessories. It is extremely cheap.
I'm not mad or anything, I didn't order a case so there's no issue but had it not come I'd be just as happy.
The Wenger Pegasus was what I opted to get and having now drug the laptop to Canada and back in it, I'd say it works well. Everything fits, plenty of room for extras, and a backpack is a nice thing with as much weight as this unit has. -

Just got an email back from my sales rep. He apologized whole-heartily, but they won't be doing anything for me. But hey, at least I got a whole-hearted apology for the missing accessories for my $2,000 gaming laptop, right?
Ironically enough, it's the whole "Ordered my laptop before others who placed their orders later" thing coming back to bite me in the , yet again. He said that their were preorders taken prior, that did not go into production until after the bags were no longer available. Considering that the bags come from Sager, and not Xotic PC, that's the smoking gun to the fact that mix-up in preorders on the Sager laptops with the 7970M was entirely on Xotic PC, and not Sager.
To reiterate, I placed an order before other people and received my unit after some people who placed their orders later than me. And it's evident to me that it's all on Xotic PC. I'm going to leave it at that, and let people derive would they will from it. I've come to my conclusion, and how it will impact future purchases... -
trust me the bag is nothing special. Yes it is the principle, which is weird if you went through XoticPC since Derek (my sales rep) took care of it no problem. Theres no branding whatsoever on it and it just looks like a generic black laptop bag
-
I placed my order after they made the announcement about no longer providing free cases, but I received one anyway. It's come in handy since I still haven't had time to pick up a backpack large enough to hold my 17" monster, but I'm only using it to store my laptop for now, I wouldn't want to actually use it to carry my laptop around.
Free stuff is cool, but in this case I think Sager made the right call in saving their money and to stop sending the cases. I'm not spending $1800+ on a laptop only to have it break because I was too cheap to buy a proper bag. -
I had Derek as a sales rep, too, and I was told nothing would be done.

It may be illegal, but they did it. I don't see a realistic option to receive reparation for it, though. They seem diametrically opposed to doing anything for me whatsoever.

I just received my laptop today and it came with a bag
-
forgive and forget my friend
besides i heard that sager build laptops in batches, so even if you ordered before the bags were dragged out they could've built your laptop after that so it didn't come with a bag i think it wouldn't be Xoticpcs fault since sager just changed that out of nowhere................ -
Xotic PC had the chance to make it right and chose not to. I received a NBR discount and a cash discount for using a cashier check, which is basically them passing the savings of merchant fees on to me, instead of the credit card getting them.
Full markup minus the small NBR discount and you cannot send a free laptop skin or t-shirt which probably costs then less than $5 in bulk? Embarrassing... I won't be forgetting anything.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2 -
Hmmm, i ordered from Xotic on 6/22. The bag was not advertised nor was tribes. I received both in addition to the NBR discount.
Sorry to hear about your issue. Hopefully they come around and decide to help. -
I had my laptop even before that. I just got handled. I won't order from them again.

Do the bags come from them or Sager? If its a Sager promotion, and Sager shipped it without a bag and now they're out of bags, not much they can do.. I don't think they're obligated to do anything if it was Sager's promotion.. From a customer Service standpoint, they probably should've comped you something for it (like $20.. Not a $100-200 skinning).
Kind of surprised that a rep hasn't chimed in here. Usually they jump at the chance to earn some points with the community. -
I received the bag, though when I ordered it, reading on forums, I understood good chance I wouldn't get any. XoticPC reps explained Sager was stopping that.
I wouldn't worry about this bag, it's been sitting in my closet, never used. It's flimsy and don't off any protection and the pocket to hold the PSU is fine, but just looks weird with such a huge power pack.
If you spent $1500 on these incredible machines, then spend $45 to get a proper backpack with padding and protection for em -
Speaking of cases what is a good hard shell case for the 170EM?
-
A vinyl skin doesn't cost $200, no way. My local window tint place does vinyl and could cut this for me and they are like $30, and they tend to be high on everything.

We aren't talking about a handout for handouts' sake. We are talking about resolving an issue of false advertising with as little impact on the business as possible.
If there $10 skin is worth me never buying a $2,000 laptop from them again, so beit. And we're not even talking about the collateral damage this thread will cause, unintentionally.

@fenryr I am glad you're amused, but is it worth a ban for trolling? I just don't know :S

Not saying they shouldn't have offered you something, but if they handed you a "$200 value" for your troubles, others will expect them same. If they're running out of bags and you get compensated, everyone who reads this is going to expect similar compensation. Bit cold on their part, but probably a good move from a tactical standpoint (not a CS standpoint).
-
Return it and pay a restocking fee? Brilliant. And if there were no restocking fee, I'd return and buy from Malibal, to answer your question.

Any pre order we list state specifications can change on the product description page. I am truly sorry you didn't get your bag. Derek has apologized to you several times about not getting your bag. I understand you are upset but as others have said this is a <$10 bag. Your name was put on a list if Sager gets a return or gets a spare bag to send it to you.
What you may not realize is we are working with less then a $100 margin after invoice cost. It is upsetting to see that our generous discounts are so under appreciated. Remember our margin goes down with the cash discount and the NBR discount. True, we save on processing fee's but also view that a few of us sellers get a better rate on processing a card then 3% with our volume and we take the extra as a loss. (which also cuts into our margin) We are one of the few that staffs a 24/7 telephone support group that also have to be paid out of that margin on top of our several other staff.
I am sorry I don't see how any of this is embarrassing or that you were "handled" in anyway. Derek has provided you consistent customer service throughout your entire process and providing you several updates.
Some of these comments posted are a little over the top over a sub $10 bag. Trust me I understand the point of it and as stated above you were put on a list at Sager should a bag come in it will be shipped to you.
If you were not aware, we have a professional printer print our skins which cost significantly more then $10 or $20 as you state. We don't just buy a cheap printer and print them out, they are all professionally printed. -
I received one email from Derek stating that they weren't going to be able to do.anything. I never responded because a response like that is generally an indication that any sort of conversation or negotiation is going nowhere.
I am not sure why we're dwelling on the skin, because I suggested numerous resolutions and it seemed one of the most cost effective, because I didn't want you to lose money on this deal.
I am not asking for anything that wasn't advertised on YOUR site, and you people have responded with canned responses and general disclaimers. You can paint me the villain if you like, but I still have the emails and I think it would have been far more detrimental to post them here, eliminating any shred of doubt for those who have had nothing but positive experience with you.
I didn't post the emails, I didn't file a complaint with the BBB. I am not trying to harm your company. I understand discussing this in open forum is not advantageous to your reputation, but I DID try to resolve this in email, prior to posting anything.
I feel like it is my right, and duty, to be honest about my experience, and that is all I am doing. There were several facets of this process that did not please me, but the overall tone was acceptable, up until an issue (which would have required very little effort and cost to you) was shrugged off altogether.
That is absurd, and I don't care who knows it.

Now, don't you wish you had simply posted "We apologize for the issue, we are working to get you a bag sent out. Please bear with us" instead?
Because had Derek said exactly that, instead of what I was emailed, this thread would not exist, and I would have been happy with the effort that was made. Despite the 7970M delays, despite the fact that orders placed AFTER mine were being received by others before I received mine, my overall experience would have ended on a pleasant note, and all could be forgiven.
I am sorry things had to come to this place. No doubt, it has made several people unhappy, if not at least uncomfortable.

How did they go out of their way to rectify it? An email response outlining how they were not going to do anything? Look up rectify in the dictionary, then let's continue in a civilized manner.

I've read over all this and here's what I think, for what it's worth:
-The bags are no longer available, so the website should have been changed ASAP by the reseller.
-Anyone who complains that they ordered while the bag was still being advertised, should receive SOMETHING as compensation, as long as there wasn't a "while supplies last" clause explicitly stated.
-Resellers should not advertise "bonus" items that they don't have control over. It creates an expectation that the reseller might not be ready to fulfill.
Having said all that, so far my reseller has been professional and courteous and I've had zero problems with them. Considering that the item in question was only (supposedly) worth $10, I think the situation should be settled at this point. We all know what happened and if it's important to us, we can keep it in mind when making future purchases.
I'll also say that I'm a little bummed about probably not getting a bag when my shipment arrives, but I didn't notice it advertised anywhere, so I never considered it something I was promised.
Of course, this incident did prompt me to by an actual backpack for my machine, so I guess it wasn't all bad.
Hope you have better luck next time. -
Thanks for the kind words, PopeJamal. I know I'm not completely in the wrong on this. It's nice to see some words of support, instead of being flamed and trolled for being upset.
-
I just received my laptop three days ago (the 12th) and unbeknownst to me I got a laptop bag with my purchase. I didn't even know I was going to get it; never read anything saying it was even available. My order was placed around 6/30 -- but as some may said the bag isn't the greatest. I purchased a Slappa Kikken 18" for better protection; however it is still nice I now have a decent bag for the old laptop.
Don't know why they would say its all out then I randomly receive one but no complaints about it here. -
Yep, definition of being 'handled' right there, for those who pretend at being oblivious of my meaning.
Tell them Sager is out, and push the blame on them, but lo and behold, people are still receiving them. It's become funny, at this point.

To be perfectly fair, (which I have been, every step of the way) I just received notification that a case became available from Sager and has been shipped.
Thanks to everyone for their support, and I apologize to anyone who was made to feel offended by anything in this thread.
Thank you, Xotic Pc, for seeing to it that eventually, the right thing was done.

Sager advertised laptop carrying cases with purchase
