Just wanted to know if the Clevo's have a backlit keyboard option? Also, I was just about to order an AW M17 R3 3D Bundle until the SB debacle. I would like to know what they offer in a 17-18" (X7200/X8100) that would be comparable to the AW. It is very important that it have a lighted keyboard and be upgradable. Also, RGB LED and or 3D capable screen is also a must. Thanks in advance for your time.

Some of the other guys can answer about the rest, but at this time I know the backlit keyboard is not an option. Myself and others would also like that.

Bugler- Indeed it would be a good option for Sager, XoticPC and other retailers to offer. +1 rep for quick response:|-

What Clevo offers in the X7200? Desktop processors, 3 hard drive bays, GTX 480m SLI configs. Pretty much stomps the Alienware M17x; this may change when the SBs are released properly. The x8100 isn't as great as the x7200 though; sports top of the line Core i7s, also dual GTX 480ms. No backlits available for Sagers as of this moment.

3D capable screens are available if I'm right and the screens themselves are of top notch.

I used to use a usb LED light to illuminate my keyboard lol!

Fluorescent keyboard stickers are also an option

I have a black-light in my room and it works wonders. Not only does it make everything in the room glow, but if I'm wearing white then the room will brighten up even more. I use a G15 keyboard and I added stickers to the keys that give it an extra glow effect. I wonder if the white lettering will glow on my future np8130.

Those glowing keyboard stickers require a charge up. For example you need a light to shine on them which will charge the stickers to glow. They will not glow on their own.
My method with a black light will make stuff that normally don't glow, glow like crazy! Many advertising posters have embedded messages you can only see under a black light. I got mine for $65 and it's about 30" long florescent style.

Haha yeah I know that. Like....night clubs... :D.

However, the website states that the source of its glow emulates from the monitor of the laptop/screen.

For RGBLED you have to get the Alienware M17x R2/Classic. Other than the Precision M6400/M6500 and SXPS 16 laptops nothing else has had RGB screens.

For the backlight, you got Apple, Alienware, Asus. Of the 3 Alienware has the best backlighting.

I think that about answers your question ;)

scook- I think you hit the nail on the head. While researching the high-eng laptops, the M17 X2 stands out as the best choice. Now I just need to save my pennies for the $3000+ price tag.
